Hi all! I'm currently an Illinoisian who's about fed up with the gun laws here (amongst other manifestations of Chicago politics). Well I've been fed up for quite awhile but it takes awhile before you get to the point where you're willing to put distance between your family and part with a good job, your home town, etc... In any case, I thought I'd hop on here and check out the community. I'm currently involved in boards and activism in Illinois. I guess the thing that discourages me is that the state of Indiana doesn't prohibit carry on university campuses, but all the campuses I'd be interested in working at do in their own policies! (Utah is a long ways away) So yeah, I work at the University of Illinois and I've become accustomed to the system, I appreciate the pay and benefits but if I want to be free, I suppose I'll have to find work in the private sector. I'm a veteran of the Marine Corps, trained as an 0151 Admin Clerk, so if there are any business owners/managers out there who'd be interested in someone with extensive administrative experience, proficiency with IT on the operators side, good with databases, artistically inclined, writing/editing etc., please let me know! I'd most likely be interested in the Indianapolis area or maybe NW IN as I do actually like the city of Chicago, despite all the ugliness that spews from there.

:welcome: I'm a non-native Indianian (I refuse to call myself a Hoosier until someone can define it for me) myself. I can't answer your relocation questions, but I wanted to welcome you and thank you for your service.

Welcome! New transplant myself. My work took me into the People's Republik of Illannoy from time to time on the Metro East St Louis.

A whole subset of Missouri gun boards was dealing with the legal issues of privacy as it relates to a safe mounted to the frame of a motor vehicle while traveling into Illinois with your CCW.

Mmmmm... I don't miss it. Come, come to the Silicorn Valley!

    In the trenches for liberty!
Back when I was in the Navy I lived for 3 years in North Chicago while teaching at Great Lakes. They had the stupid FOID card even back then.
Good luck on your escape from the land of Socialist.

When I first moved to Indiana I was told a Hoosier is a hillbilly that did not have enough money to make it all the way to Michigan. Sounds logical to me!

    :welcome: to the site.
I, too, am a resident of the oppressed state of IL. and, like you, plan to make the move to the "free state" asap. :patriot:
Not only is IN a free state, but it has jobs. And the "Free Air" will have you positively giddy! (I always hate coming back after visiting my daughter in the FS.)

Good luck on your job search.
