    What: Defensive Pistol 101

    When: 30MAY09 – 0900 until approximately 1600
    Cost: $95 plus $10 range fee

    What: Defensive Rifle 101
    Where: Riley Conservation Club – Terre Haute, IN
    When: 31MAY09 – 0900 until approximately 1600
    Cost: $95 plus $10 range fee
    Prerequisites: basic pistol class or equivalent knowledge with instructor approval
    Lead Instructor: Joseph Viray

    ACT Defensive Rifle Class Equipment List


    REQUIRED ITEMS:

    · Eye protection
    · Hearing protection (suitable for use with rifle)
    · Rifle – must function reliably; self-loader strongly recommended such as AR-15-type, AK-type
    · Lubricant suitable for rifle (FP-10, CLP, Slip-2000, etc.)
    · Magazines – Five (5) minimum; more is better
    · Magazine carrier on body (for at least one or two spare mags)
    · Sling – either a “tactical” sling or a simple carry strap
    · Ammunition – 500 rounds


    RECOMMENDED ITEMS:

    · Clothing appropriate for season, including hat with brim and rain gear
    · Comfort items (sunscreen, insect repellant, over the counter pain reliever, etc.)
    · Shooting mat, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves
    · Cleaning kit
    · Snacks and beverages (water will be provided)

    These courses are a lot of good trainging jam packed into one weekend, and the date is fast approaching and the weather is getting better.

    I'm putting my registration in the mail tomorrow! I can't wait. I've never taken a class like this and am really excited to learn different methods/tactics.

    Is it acceptable to bring ammo already loaded in to magazines?

    That's actually preferred. The more magazines you bring the better. Bring 'em loaded and it will save you time that you can use to continue shooting or observe others (and learn from their mistakes!).

    As long as we learned not to stick our head in front of the firing line, it's okay now!

    I learned a new idea this weekend: you don't learn much from success. You learn from failures.

    Which means I should have learned a lot more than I have!
