I had more fun today than in a long time from shooting a "new" gun (produced from 1987 to 1996). :rockwoot:
Probably b/c I have always wanted the SS with adjustable sights. :coffee:
I regretted selling a 422 with rear adjustable sights so I bought another 422 w/o them from Zackcz, March 2022, to take its place.

Ironically, I had just bought another 422 five days ago just for comparison fun (which I like to do) with the one I bought from Zackcz. :dunno:
I posted those range pics of it doing well, but not like the row after row of 5/5 & 100% like the 2206 with adjustable sights today.
    It met all expectations. :wow:

I owe all thanks to Zackcz for giving me a heads up.

    SW description:
The S&W 2206 is a variant of the 422: both the frame and the slide are stainless steel.
This model is noticeably heavier than the alloy frames of the 422 and 622.
The barrel is non-moving and fixed to the frame.
It came threaded from the factory, but the "barrel nut" was used to affix the barrel to the frame.
This made this pistol line perfect for use with a suppressor with an aftermarket adapter since the sights could still be utilized.

This 2206 proved to be a keeper in the non-optic .22LR category on the 1st day! :rockwoot:

I just had to try the Federal AutoMatch & Armscor I brought with me.
I couldn't believe after doing nine 5/5 on the last page that I had a flyer on the 1st circle! :wallbash:
Then again, last row, 1st circle!

Looks like u were on the zone
    I felt like it!
Hadn't had so much fun in ages!
I will even put some red paint on the front sight to see a little better.
It's too hard trying to focus little tiny black on black iron sights, I need some green and/or red paint or better yet, fiber optics!!!

    @doddg - barrel adapter for the 2206:

AllenM can fix that up for a fiber optic sight. He cut a dovetail in my 422.

    I appreciate the info.

The SW 422 I bought from Zackcz, he had put an adaptor on it, so that will enhance its selling.
Zack might even buy it back since he always speaks so highly of the 422 (or its variants, haha!).
I might keep the other 422 for awhile, just for more fun at the range before I let it go.
I once had 4 models of the SW 22A-1, & enjoyed shooting each one & it was tough selling 3 of them, but I still have my favorite (see below).

2nd day with my now "prized" SW 2206 (422 variant with stainless steel & rear adjustable sights).
Comparing it with the SW 422 I bought last week from a member.
The heavier weight of the 2206 is pleasing, although the lighter 422 presented well today.

Used Armscor 36 grain HP HV ammo.
Top row & left circle of 2nd row: SW 2206.
Bottom row & right circle of 2nd row: the SW 422.
    2206 scored 18/30 to the 422 scoring 11/30 on the X circle.
2206 barely edged out the 422 on the X+10 circles by 1 round (29:28).
All this points to me being the weak point. :dunno:
    Range 03.31.2023 2206 & 422 compared on 6 large targers.jpg

Got a surprise on the silhouette at 30' of the head & torso rounds.
The SW 422 had a better groups.
Underneath the torso were 2 rows at 21'.
    Another surprise!
1st row SW 2206: inner red circle = 10/30 rds.
2nd row SW 422: inner red circle = 12/30 rds.
Adding both the red & white circles both tied at 28/30.
    Range 03.31.2023 2206 & 422 on Silhouette w6 small circles.jpg

Warm up practice with the SW 422.
    Range 03.31.2023.jpg

    SW 2206 6" SS (frame & slide) w/rear adjustable sights, 39 ozs
Thinking of getting some wood grips since this is keeper material.
    pic left side at range.jpg

SW 422 6" with fixed sights, 23.5 ozs.
Aluminum alloy slide & slide is blue carbon steel.

Some days I shoot my lighter plastic framed 4" 22/45 better than my all steel guns like my MKII or Smith 41.
The 2206 would look pretty sharp with a nice set of wood grips!

My son and I shot 320rds through my TX22 Thursday afternoon. He wanted to shoot some after work. With no malfunctions and my TX22 hasn't been cleaned for well over 1500rds so far.
We ran drills with it. We mostly used Federal Auto Match.
My grandson was along and he really had fun being with dad and grandpa on the range.

We plan on shooting some more today weather permitting.
I've got my new front sight shot in now. So will try to post some pictures of targets. We were mainly shooting steel on my course.

I looked last evening for something like the walnut grips I got for my little tip up barrel Beretta Tomcat .32 acp that I only paid $45 (pic below).
I'd like to buy the same for a Beretta Bobcat .22LR Inox I have (see below).
Found grips for $85+ but were not as much to my liking & kept looking.
Found some for $235 that were awesome, total overkill, but great for accuracy.
I literally flinched when I saw the price, haha!
No hurry, but since I can't believe I'd ever sell the gun, I'll hopefully will get in a splurge mood.
Right now I need to sell

Tomcat .32 acp with $45 walnut grips.
    I sold this in 2021, I think.
    1680358000315.png

Bobcat .22LR I thought about ordering the walnut grips.
But, it came with some rubber grips that are better than the plastic stock ones.
Same scenario, if I thought I'd keep it long term I'd go ahead & enjoy the walnut grips.
I've had a dozen of these over the years, so don't trust myself not to sell it when I need $$, haha!

The look on your grandson's face says it all.
    Enjoy!

1300 rds & haven't had to clean it yet: totally awesome!
I'm lazy, I wait until accuracy falls off before I clean.
Once I'm done cleaning, I wonder why I put it off & envy those that say they clean after every range visit!

The grips would really set off the new stainless model especially with it undoubtedly being a keeper. It’s going to be able to shoot head to head with anything you got for 1/3-1/2 the price in some cases and is just great looking!

Got out the #1 SW 41 today.
Plus, a little itsy-bitsy 22 magnum, I'm too embarrassed to admit I picked up. :nono:
I had one for 30 yrs. & finally sold it off years ago, then picked up another just for a hoot.

    I used CCI SV.
I started at the bottom & worked my way up.
Only 21' for the 4th row, just for fun.
30' on rows 1-3, since it has a red dot.
    79/80 rds in the 1.75" circles = 98.7% = 99%
Yes, of course I blame the flyer on the ammo. :dunno:
    Range 04.05.2023 1.75 in circles 30 ft & 21 ft.jpg

    NAA 22 magnum/WMR SA.
    The quintessential, "up-close-and-personal" gun.
Pic with larger grips & original grips.jpg

15' (should have used 5'. :lmfao:
    CCI Maxi-Mags
POI way low & left from only 15'.
1st cylinder w/2 hands, hit bottom left as POA was the torso X.
    8-10" low & 5-7" left.
2nd cylinder w/1 hand, closer, after changing POA.
3rd cylinder w/1 hand, again closer to the X, but a little high, but the groups are getting any tighter.
4th cylinder w/1 hand, on head, POA not high enough.
I remember when I had my original one that I couldn't hit a 5 gallon bucket at 10'.

    Funniest thing I've heard today!
I actually took my loved SW 22A-1 with me today but ran out of time.

I have to pit it against a pistol with an optic, so that limits it.
Here are some pics where I brought the best I have besides the Smith 41:
    - Browning Buckmark 10" Silhouette
    - Kel-Tec CP33

I've been told that Cliff is going to start charging $20 and hour for stool use over 2 hours.. Better spend more time shooting and less time with the U OF TUBES when you're there. :lmfao:
Cliff is great! I really enjoy him.
The stool rental did make me chuckle!
Since I stay for 3-4 hours most times, I do get calls for this and that.
I've done everything from moving Dr. appts. around to sell a gun on the cell while at the range.

I have personal friends I entertain sending range pics b/c they work from home & vicariously being at the range while they're at "work," haha!

The last few times I've been to the range I've cleaned some guns on the spot before shooting them.
It started out with just a little oiling & wiping the ramps/chambers down & running a snake, then grew to a field strip & lubing. :dunno:
Yesterday, I needed Youtube to figure out how to get a Hi Standard Supermatic Citation Military 107 completely apart & another Youtube on how to put a different gun back together again, haha! :wallbash:

Zackcz let me take a Sig 322 to the range that he picked up this week.
He had a different one a year ago which I shot better.
He says its me; I say it's the gun!

3 range pics today using only Federal AutoMatch.

Started with 3.75" circles at 21' & 30' using iron sights only today.
21' top row & I adjusted rear sights for last circle.
30' bottom row: not much worse than the 21'.
