    . . .
And with that, that wraps up our legislative slate this year. All the ones we wanted to, passed.

    House Bill 1235

Prohibited causes of action concerning firearms.

    . . .
    @KellyinAvon & @GuyRelford

Be very glad about HB 1235. Know that the Gun Grabbers are relentless, and it isn't just Brady subsidizing lawsuits.

Baltimore with the help of Everytown is attempting to force ATF to release ALL its tracing data on gun owners, dealers, manufacturers, and distributors, in a FOIA lawsuit filed in the District of DC (obvious court picking), challenging the Tiahrt Amendment. That 2003 amendment to an Appropriations Bill prohibits ATF from releasing "Tracing Information" used by ATF to anyone except legitimate law enforcement agency in connection with an investigation (i.e. even law enforcement can't go on fishing expeditions). Everytown is after ALL of it and the woman doing most of the speaking is the litigator from Everytown doing the heavy lifting for Baltimore . . .

Could this be where Gary and Lake County with City Attorney Pol and the Brady Bunch may be headed next?? Possibly adding themselves as an additional Plaintiff?? It reeks with same rotting fish odor of the same fishing expedition the Gary v. Glock lawsuit was after from gun dealers. I don't believe HB 1235 could be used to quash it as it would be a Federal Lawsuit . . .

And both houses are officially adjourned Sine Die.. wrapped up on Friday. Despite having until Thursday..

Now we just wait for Governor to sign the stuff.
And @KellyinAvon right on the date HEA 1143 is now law

HEA 1235 was available to sign today, but he didn't sign it.

HB 1084 is still getting the lessor signatures needed to head to the Governor.

Its illegal to have a car lot open on Sunday in Indiana? Id love to hear the reasoning behind that.
Old Blue Law.. @KellyinAvon doesn't want it repealed so he can go on car lots and look at cars when they are closed on Sundays.

Sounds dodgy as feck to me.

Now they will give you a permit to do one of those "fairgrounds car auctions" so long as you don't go nuts with having them all the time. (This is mostly so Mecum and the like are not affected).

Vehicle sales may not be conducted on Sunday, unless the person holds a special event permit issued under Indiana Code 9-32-11-18 or the person is engaged in the business of buying, selling, or trading a motorcycle or a non-self-propelled/non-motorized camper or trailer.

But you can buy a bike or a camper trailer.

It began with what are called blue laws that Sunday was a day of rest for nonessential businesses. If challenged they likely would not stand but no one wants to challenge them.

If you think of it a from the dealers perspective I see it working like this. First they work six days and get their work done without paying for the costs of being open seven days. Then if they open on Sunday do we really think in our got to have it now world that customers would be satisfied with a couple of sales people? Nope, they would need a sales manager to approve deals, they need the finance department to write up the contract and set up financing, they would want a mechanic to fix a few things, the mechanic needs parts so now they must open parts.

I figure the car dealers lobby is right up there with the bankers. Remember the liquor distributors (who have thwarted cold beer sales other than at liquor stores) were against Sunday sales. They knew they would sell the same volume, just have to pay more in labor and overhead costs.

Anybody think car sales will increase with Sunday sales?

Plus, I like having one day per week to look at cars without the circling polyester sharks.

    Bumping the bill watch link.

Old Eric did find his pen yesterday, signing the incredibly important HEA 1047 Sexual Offenses (that bill had it's hearing while we were waiting for 1235, it is very important and those who testified showed incredible character to come forward with what had happened to them.)

Old Eric also signed HEA 1336 Loan Brokers (we sat through that one too getting rid of Principal Managers in Indiana Code... that was worse than sitting through "racehorses on steroids" back in the day.)

HEA 1235 (drives a stake in the heart of the horrific Gary v Glock lawsuit) has not been signed.

Oh look, there's the phone number. As always: be polite, be professional.

"I'm calling to urge Governor Holcomb to sign HEA 1235 Prohibited Causes of Action Involving Firearms. This is an emergency measure that will stop the personally identifiable information on 400,000 ATF Form 4473s from being put at risk."

It is the only bill from the first bunch delivered not signed yet. Which is maybe a bit worrying.

I put my nickel in anyway.
