My girlfriend has just begun working at a public university in Indiana and is also taking classes this summer. I've rearranged my work schedule so that I'm able to have lunch with her most weekdays. However, in talking with campus security, they told me that firearms are prohibited on campus...

Are there laws against carrying on the college campuses in Indiana?
Or, by what means do they restrict, forbid or ban carrying?
Does it apply to everyone, students, and or public?
What are the consequences?
Any recent cases/trials?
Ok. Here it is. I attend Ivy Tech in Elkhart and firearms are NOT allowed on grounds and I believe if I read correctly could result in expulsion from the school. I would like see if I could get SCCC but have no clue on where to start? Let me remind you I am about 5'6" 120 lbs little white boy...
Well, two families have filed lawsuits against Virginia Tech and others in reference to the mass killing that happened a couple years back. There was a state settlement and when I did the math, everyone who took it ended up with around $350K. The two lawsuits are asking for $10,000,000.00...

Dear Colleagues,
The email below was sent out today to the student affairs staff in your school from Assistant Dean of Students Jason Spratt. I am sharing this note with you so you will be aware and may consider...
IUPUI student robbed at gun point
Very short article, basically the kid was comming home late after studying and was robbed by a relatively small man with what the article said to be a Short Barreled Shotgun, but knowing the media could be a number of things.
This is why I hate leaving my...
If this had been my wife driving... it'd be hard for me not to dig his eyes out with a spoon...

Here's an article from MSNBC. Of course, the guy whose photo is in the article is against the bill. It would be great if just one state could get a law like this passed. We need somewhere to start.

I was looking at the laws in Indiana today and saw there is nothing stating you cannot carry on a college campus only K-12. I attend PNC (Purdue North Central), in their law-book it states this:
Firearms
Possession and/or use of firearms is strictly prohibited on campus property unless...
In spite of the snow, ice and power outages we still had 46 rock solid Patriots show up at the 2nd Amendment Patriots meeting last night. As always it was nice to see new visitors.
The one thing I want to write about is the postcard campaign we did last night. I had initially planned to...
I did not see this incident get major media coverage, but you have to wonder where the cry is to outlaw knives: FOXNews.com - Virginia Tech Student Stabbed to Death on Campus Was Decapitated - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News
Things that make you go hmmmmmm.......
Here's something I thought of while in the shower this morning.
There are some classes at colleges that high school students can take. Even though carrying may be against the school's rules, since there is an "extension" of school property in the Indiana IC laws that says you cannot carry on...
Clicky----> Police: WIU students arrested with cache of weapons - Peoria, IL - pjstar.com
The problem I see here, besides the sensationalism is that they had loaded pistols in the car. I don't think anything else is really against the law unless they didn't have stamps for the silencer (if...
Here's a question: what colleges, if any, allow licensed individuals to carry handguns on campus and/or keep firearms in dorm rooms?
While it's a little early yet (my daughter is only 4), I expect that to be a significant part of her college choice when the time comes.
The MSNBC poll thread got me thinking about how my fellow INGOers felt about CC on campus. My thoughts are that why should a college campus be treated any different than anywhere else? Please chime in and take the poll, if you answer other please explain :)
Here is a link to the poll: Live vote: Guns on college campuses - Education
Its a simple poll, should legally licensed people be allowed to carry on college campuses.
I think the story is actually reasonably balanced. Its clearly true that college campuses are generally safe. But its also...
