PROFESSORS GIVE YOU POINTS FOR SHOWING UP AND TALKING. Go to class. Attend class. Ask questions. You are paying through the nose for this, so at least show up and be there for it.

    .
Get the education you are paying for. Every class you skip is $250 of your money wasted. Is the reason you are skipping class worth $250?

Take good notes and study. At the end of each class write down three questions that will be on the final exam based on the lecture. By time you get to finals week you will have an advance copy of the final exam and can focus on what you will be tested on.

Some good life advice in this post too. But you should have instilled that the last eighteen years. Since your asking advice here you likely already did a great job and continue to raise a good adult.

You don’t need to make her a prepper but get her a few essentials if things go sideways. Make sure she has some situational awareness while out and about. Keep her eyes looking around and off her phone. She will be surrounded by other eighteen year olds, many of them making poor life choices.

Finally, make sure she has FUN. Life is long and she should leave college with some good memories (and an education).

Understood, but for many Liberal Elites Universities are the only way. Prime Example our son elected to follow in my footsteps . He is now a Paris Island Alumni. My Wife’s Mother started a college Fund for him in which she revoked because if he decides not to re up he is going to attend a Nationally recognized and accredited Trade School. He has no desire and for him to attend a University is not something he is going to do. But according to my MIL by marriage only he will surely burn in **** and be destined to be a failure in life unless he attends the U of M yes she is an Ann Arbor elitist.

Well with that GI Bill I suppose he can go wherever he'd like if he wants to go and can get in.

Not all colleges are wacko leftist but more are than aren't it seems.

I like that idea of building a test question Bank as you go.

I don't think I'm entirely down on liberal arts...so long as you have a plan in addition to that liberal arts degree.

No doubt that STEM makes the most sense for most students based upon the demands of the economy no doubt.
Here's some careers that aren't STEM that require a degree:
    - Teacher
    - Lawyer
    - Doctor, nurse, pharmacist, etc
    - Pastor
    - Accountant
    ...

    Rant:
What's with all this STEAM crap? No way, no how, does art fit in with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. I'm dogging art, but it doesn't belong in the same category.

In small quantities the Arts helps round out the student and will make them a better whatever.

I know I did the math at some point and came up with a dollar value per class. Can't remember what it was, but it made the same point. College isn't high school, they do NOT care if you blow off class. They get paid and you eat the cost.

As for preparedness, I thought "G17 in backpack, Mk18 and plate carrier in dorm" was a given with this crowd and didn't need to be covered.

I did the same with saving with the hopes that at least one of mine would go and hopefully get an Engineering Degree from MD, OH or gasp Purdue. My father unbeknown to me had done the same.
With both of my sons also being Paris Alumni 3043 & 3045 both of us after the second son enlisted the accounts were closed and moved to other investments.
Give him time, both of mine felt the same then about ever going to higher education. Now 5 & 7 years later both have done classes online that Uncle Sam has picked up the tab.
Can I ask what Trade your son is interested in?

Which is why its called steAm not stem. :stickpoke: .

Sure you dont need to go back for some remedial schoolin? :p
And what's next? Soon it becomes a giant alphabet soup that that includes every subject, - and we have a word for that - school.
You want something that STEM majors need, it's not art, it's English. I don't know how many engineers I deal with that can't communicate.

STEAM is like a participation trophy for art.

It's like affirmative action - "we more art, let's just shove it in before math."

We need STEM to get back to moon, we don't need STEAM, because we're not going to make a frickin' mural up there.

(WCD - is that a better rant?)

I just knew someone was going to take issue...

In most cases it does. I'm sure a lot country churches with under 100 will hire someone without formal education, but every full time pastor I know has some college training. Personally, I wouldn't want a pastor that doesn't.

If education is required to work on my physical health, then it should be for my spiritual health.

EDIT: I do know several children's Pastors without degrees.

    SMH.

I have some contempt for those family members that insist that (not their own) children follow exactly in their footsteps.
