At that depth, they're not recovering remains.
At least not remains you're recognizing.
Water coming in, in the hundreds of miles an hour.
Yikes. I read an article that said if the window gave up the ghost like some have assumed, they'd be dead before the first drop of water hit them due to the immediate pressure change.

I watched a fleet week tour video recently and they were using an xbox controller to run the periscope on a sub, not driving it however.
They said it was easier for the younger guys to run it because it was all second nature to them.
I'll see if I can find it.... (edit)

Here it is... USS Indiana of all things... control room about 8:30

    .
I knew Act would start a thread about that when I heard the news a few days ago.

There's a fellow Frenchman on board the sub.

He served 22 years in the French Navy as a mine clearance diver.
He made over 35 dives to the Titanic wreck site, include the very first dive on the site in 1987.

He's the guy you would call first if a sub was stuck next to the Titanic wreck.

From what I heard the sub is sealed from the outside.
Even is they manage to reach the surface they can't get fresh air from the outside.

France is sending an oceanic research vessel, L'Atalante, to the site.

That would be tough, escaping from the abyss to the surface only to expire from suffocation while looking at breathable air through the window.

This Titanic expedition leader has been down to the wreck many times in a russian sub but refused to go down in the Titan. He also says no recovery system' setup for this depth of the ocean.

    Periscopes are different.
Instead of lenses and mirrors, its electronics.
Recorded so that it can be viewed with scope down.

I wonder if that would void the warranty on the game controller?

Seriously, though, if the porthole gave way, there is probably just a cloud of organic matter remaining. Fish food.

"OceanGate Expeditions CEO Stockton Rush, who is aboard the missing submersible, once explained why he preferred not to hire "50-year-old White guys" with military experience to pilot his company's vessels. "

Wow, I just watched a tour of the inside of the sub. If someone has to drop a deuce, they have to pull a curtain and do it in the front. I would be pretty pissed at someone if I had to wait for them to take a dump to see outside after paying $250K
