Police action shooting today around 58th and Binford. Perp shot at his wife’s car and was tracked down to the area. Car crash and the he ran and the police neutralized him. Gun found at the scene was a Glock with a fun stick and Glock Switch. My point is until the ATF can seize all the Glock Switches used by the felons illegally possessing handguns that go around shooting at their ex spouse and police officers that they not commit any resources to seizing law abiding, tax paying citizens pistol braces. The switches were starting to be a thing in at least 2018. One of my Glock Armorer recerts had info on them. They had pulled some off some thugs in the Toledo Ohio area. They were traced to be the typical Chinese made stuff coming in

Glock "switches" and 30rd mags are becoming pretty standard these days. I believe that many of these switches are being produced locally with 3d printers. Drive-by with 7.62 and .223/5.56 rifles are quite common as well.

They do not issue patrol riffles, however, I'm not sure when the next Patrol Rifle school will be. Typically, a single school can only accommodate 20-25 officers and is a week long. So, if we are lucky, we will have 2 schools this year but that only adds 50. Not a lot.

IMPD officers aren’t issued patrol rifles? Are officers allowed to carry personally owned rifles or can they only carry carbines provided they attend the course and qualify?

What about shotguns? Personally I think all police officers should have access to some sort of long gun.

You must provide your own rifle, they used to issue surplus M16A1 but they gave most of those back to the .gov. They will issue you a shotgun if you want or you can carry your own. I've carried my own personal patrol rifle for the last 18 years.

That is just wrong! You are in law enforcement and at this point are literally being placed in the position of doing battle with foreign and domestic criminal cartels. Ones with a long and storied history of utter brutality and vicious premeditated murders. Your employer, with my tax dollars, owes you the tools to protect yourselves and the community you swore to protect.

Why does your department not issue some form of long gun to all patrol officers? What is their excuse?

I would much prefer an officer have the power and precision of a rifle if at all possible, versus having to rely upon a less powerful and less accurate handgun.

The decimal place is in the wrong spot in the part that you posted. At the site it is $270.00.

THIS. I've shot a G18 at one of the INGO shoots. Beyond a 3 round burst, they arent very useful. 4 shots is all I could get off while still on paper.

I'm sure with practice that I could keep the entire stick on paper. But yeah, for the average mope that doesnt practice to proficiency, if he hasnt hit you in the first 3 or 4 rounds, you're safe. (Your upstairs neighbors not so much)
