Good point about the tires. With the much heavier weights of an EV you really have to be careful with the load capacity.

Way back I got to play with a BMW 850 that weighed just over 4000 pounds. It blew my mind at the time having a half ton on each tire. Today many EVs are over 5000 pounds with the new GM E-Hummer nearing 10,000 pounds!!!

Low rolling resistance, high load capacity, big big dollars.
Yep. wrong tires=decreased mileage at rates MUCH higher that ICE vehicles.

Found this interesting and in a side note cobalt and lithium are in large mined in Congo using child labor.

EV’s are not the end all be all like people claim them to be. Building the average EV produces 80% more greenhouse gases than a comparable gas car. This takes years to make up, and from what we’ve seen so far these electric cars are not going to last long in the reliability category. I’ve attached the link to the article I used. (3rd paragraph)

The media acts like we haven't had winter in the 10+ years electric cars have become more popular.

Of course, the fact that non-woke Elon Musk now owns Twitter can't have anything to do with the plethora of anti-Tesla stories in late 2022 and 2023.

[ETA] That rechargeable batteries become less and less effective as the weather gets colder has been known since....forever. Remember the angst of trying to start your carbureted car after it sat outside overnight at -10* and then it turned over at about 4 rpm? This was common 30+ years ago.

But for some reason, this long-known fact has been ignored by the mass media...until now, for some reason.

My 2012 Audi A6 weights over 4200lbs, with half of its body panels made out of aluminum. My previous Audi, a 2004 A4, a much smaller car with 1/2 the motor, weighed 4100lbs.

Yes, cars started to pork up as crashworthiness and other features were added. The amazing thing is that engine management has also kept up, making these heavyweights more fuel efficient than their earlier lightweights. I can't imagine what they would weigh today without the lighter weight high strength steel or aluminum panels.

Start adding the weight of modern batteries and the weights really go up.

Speak for yourselves. Mines 2500lbs with a full tank of fuel (all 10.1 gallons).

More and more competition will drive down EV prices. GM is really going full steam ahead as is VW. These two companies can use their size and scale of manufacturing and will take control of a big chunk of the market from Tesla. Yes, GM and VW have been caught flat footed; but just watch what happens in 2023 and 2024.

They do not even have the raw materials they need to build EV’s. Manufacturers are already using old tech batteries as they cannot procure the needed materials. They may be going full steam off a cliff…

It’s just nice seeing some pushback to the insanity.

At least they’re trying to be “pragmatic“ about it.
I dunno. They're running off the left cliff, so push them back off the right cliff? Banning electric cars is not the sane answer.

Let’s not overlook the FACT that the infrastructure is not in place for the charging of electric cars at homes on a large scale. I checked with our local municipality (granted I live in a rural area), and we can support 8 more home charging stations on our circuit. So if we were to adopt it large scale, major investment in utilities would need to take place first.
