A lifetime ago I lived in Ft Wayne. I remember that damn movie stayed in the theater more than a year. It was the thing to do Friday or Saturday night. Everybody got stoned and went to see "rocky horror". I never saw it.
I saw it in a suburb of Detroit once. Back here, everyone would hold up a lighter during the song "There's a Light". Up there, people threw lightbulbs at the screen. :n00b:

I dont know if I can explain it, cause there really isn’t much different at all, the sun still burns, the earth still turns and winter still follows the fall…

Even better. Replace them all with “permanent” ones and you don’t have to fuss with batteries twice a year.

There is a new design that has a permanent 10 year battery inside. You just throw them away and buy a new one every 10 years.

You ARE replacing your smokes every 10 years per the manufacturers recommendation, right? They don’t last forever.

And if you think that sounds expensive, calculate how much it costs to buy 9v batteries. It adds up quick.
At the old house I replaced the batteries once a year, around New Year. They still had life in them. At the new house they are hard wired with a backup battery. I will still change them on Jan 1.

Lots of individual factors but when it comes down to it, if all else us equal it is a benefit to be on eastern time. Other than a couple of posters here I rarely hear about anyone wanting central time.
I'd be willing to be on Central time from Sunday, March 12 2023 to Sunday, November 5 2023

Very simple. The median sunset in Indy is 7:44 pm (based on the 9/21 date) with DST, it would be 6:44 without. That equates to an average of 2:44 minutes after 5 pm to do activities that require daylight vs. 1:44 total minutes after 5 pm. Obviously it will be less later in the fall and more at peak summer but that it what many want.

It is always the same vocal few that don’t like DST. For whatever reason INGO has the most that do not like DST anywhere I am around…
What activities require daylight (i.e. absolutely cannot be performed using manmade lighting)?

In the Year Of Our Lord 2022, I doubt there is a single, such activity.

I find it ironic that people complain that a twice a year time shift upsets their circadian rhythm but have no problem staying up late on almost all Friday and/or Saturday nights, or getting up an hour or two early several times a year to hunt or fish, or to start on a vacation trip.

I am not arguing for DST, just making an observation about human nature.
I don't stay up later on weekend nights. My body starts shutting down around 9:00 pm. I am in bed between 9 and 10, and generally asleep by 10.

What is the actual, total cost of continual clock-changing?
Climate change caused by all the internet discussions over time changes. Healthcare for all of humanity due to the circadian rhythm impacts. Decreased productivity. Gives one extra hour ahead of election day to fill out more mail in ballots. I could go on....

You don’t *need* a suppressor. You could use ear pro. To that, you would obviously say, uh. I get to decide what I prefer.

If I like working in the garden after work, you want me to buy portable lighting to drag 100 yards out to the garden? Nah. I don’t *need* to do anything special. I already have DST. So it stays light enough, long enough, that I can do what I please. You want it your way, so you require me to do something extra?
