We need a true global government to truly sort out this whole clock thing for us.
DST is the poster child for big gov.

"Having trouble scheduling your softball game?
No problem, big gov is here to fix that by making everyone turn their clocks back and forth."

I prefer to sort out my own scheduling issues without big gov.

Location, location, location. Do you not believe in location? Do you find it preposterous that when business is relocating headquarters they want to on the same time as the money of the major banks and stock market and the power of DC.

There was a post that tried to make a point about Daniels claim about attracting jobs. It says more about the posters knowledge than the predictions, which look at all the corporate headquarters that have landed in central Indiana, particularly Carmel and fishers since the change to DST…
Yes I do. If your theory held any water, companies would not be relocating to Texas, where most of the ones I have heard of have gone lately.

Companies don't care what time zone they are in. They care about taxes and cost of labor.

    Yes I’m sure that’s it.
    Correlation, causation, something something.

What entity do you prefer to put all people on the same time? Who should coordinate the time and zones? If you do not live on an island, there must be coordination between you, schools, work, even church. No one is requiring you to participate in any particular time, you are always free to do your own thing, no one makes you do anything. If one wants to parti in society there must be some order so the people can work together.

The edges of time zones are a pain no matter how it is sliced. Better when no major city is involved. So basically for the convenience those that work in Chicago those that never leave the state are inconvenienced?
Six counties at the southeast tip of Indiana are also on Central time. I doubt that many people commute between Posey County and Chicago. People on both sides of the Indiana - Illinois line have been dealing with the time differences for over a century. Most people deal with simple inconveniences.

    Got it. LOL
Please regale us with all of the companies moving to the Eastern Timezone. Or will this be like polls? You won't be able to because all of the companies are already there.

Gee look. A whole article about how companies are moving to Texas and why.
The International Economic Development Council regularly surveys corporate executives and for the eighth consecutive time since 1996, Texas was named the number one state for business in America. Executives cited the overall business climate, favorable tax situation, overall pro-business regulatory environment, and access to talent as key drivers. The fundamentals remain solid.
But I'm sure CEOs are just sitting around worrying that they aren't in Eastern Time because that is where NY is.

Not a great graphic, but this map shows the offset from solar noon . Greener means chronological & solar noon are more closely aligned. Indiana should be all central baby.

I’m not a huge fan of moving to central but that’s solid logic right there. I could buy that.

ETA, what would that map look like the previous week, still on old time?

Right. There are basically 24 time zones in the world. Each one is centered every 15 degrees longitude. The U.S. Central Time Zone straddles the 90th meridian and extends from 82.5 to 97.5 degrees. The Indiana - Ohio border is close to 80 degrees. Indiana - Illinois is at about 87 degrees.

Because of various political worldwide decisions, there are more than 24 time zones, and the boundaries are irregular.

There are quite a few states that have part in one time zone and part in another time zone.
Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida.
Do they all cope with it as well as Indiana does?
