I’m not sure what you mean by trump is trying to keep blacks and Latinos out. Doesn’t add up to me.
I think NPR rots people's brains. If you're constantly fed a line of **** that Trump is a racist, I guess eventually you start believing it.

42% of all women (55% of white women) voted for Trump. Of note 57% of all women, including white, non-white, and women with penises voted for Biden.

38% of Hispanic voters voted for Trump.

18% of Black men voted for Trump.

Not many republican presidential candidates can boast of a bigger tent than that.

I'm trying to gauge if that's a sincere question. But I'll assume it is...

Any any other universe Trump would be considered "The Elite" - he's wealthy, he's a New Yorker, he 's a TV personality, he was (up to some road to Damascus conversion) a Democrat, he's got elite friends, egotistical, pays the lips service to religion... I don't understand the attraction.

Then there's the way he held office, executive orders, massive spending, he lost the house, then the senate, and was a one termer. There were all sorts of worries about "Obama won't leave office!" then "our" guy does exactly what we were worried about - but it's OK, we'll justify it in our heads because it's our guy.

But to really answer your question, fiscally he's not a conservative, socially he's not either. What happened to the big tent GOP of Reagan? We've got blacks and latinos trying to get into the party but Trump is doing everything possible to keep them out. And conservatism isn't about one man influence all of politics.

It seems like it's become a party of fear - fear the libs, the CRT, the trannies, the immigrants, the FBI, the elections, etc.; and fear is not what makes conservatism great.
    I disagree with your assumptions.
If DeSantis ran for president he would most likely win the nomination.
I myself see Trump as a better candidate than anything the DNC has and the libertarian party candidate I didn't like as well.
I know many conservative Christians that voted Trump because Hillary or Biden was not what this country needs as you can now see.
If DeSantis runs he has my vote and many others will vote for him as well.
If DeSantis doesn't win the nomination Trump would be wise to bring him in as VP.

I guess we have to ask then. @LeftyGunner, what is your opinion of communism vs capitalism? You're "Lefty", so how left are you? Woke? Support critical theories? Who do you read and admire?

Or maybe I should ask, do you see yourself more as a liberal, or progressive?

Who will arrest Hillary? Who will arrest Biden? Who will arrest Fauci? Pelosi? :dunno:

If you plot my views on Reddit’s “Political Compass Meme” you‘ll see a lot of noise in the signal because my views plot all over…however the overall trend plots strongly across the “libertarian“ axis, and moderately across the “left” axis. Relatively few of my beliefs track along the “authoritarian” or “right” axis…with the exception of taxation.

I see myself as an independent, but I relate more strongly to democrats than republicans in most situations.

I‘m not woke, I dismiss race theory as inherently Racist (capital r), and view *critical* race theory as mental masturbation.

I‘m not concerned with “small government” because the US is enormous, it makes sense that our goverment would be as well…but I am deeply concerned with good governance, accountability, and transparency in government, and Dems are the only party even giving lip service to those ideals…repubs have gone full cult of personality on Trump, to the point of abandoning their platform in order to appease trump’s desires.

My views on communism? Coerced collectivism is abhorrent, voluntary collectivism is fine. Ownership of the means of production? Entrepreneurship accomplishes that better than central state action can.

My views on capitalism? It‘s the best system we have found, but there are issues with scaling. As economies grow capitalism tends to centralize power into the hands of a few as well as any system does.

Hillary seems Teflon-coated, the Clinton’s bodies seem to stay well buried, it would take a force of nature to nail her down.

Fauci? What did he do that rises to a criminal level? To me he’s just a worker bee, passing on the decrees of the bureaucracy.

Pelosi? Seems like the SEC would be the group to look into her.

I have no problems with investigating or prosecuting anyone who abuses their office. Dems are not sacred cows to me. I tend to vote for them, but I do not count myself among them.

Not really on Reddit, so let me get this straight… the right equates somewhat with authoritarian, but also equates with lower taxes?

If that’s the case it’s just more redefinition of words, and mis- painting to cast aspersions.

Think I'll check back later and see if this has turned into a discussion about food. Until then.

It’s a graph, a field with two axis.

Taxation tracks along the “right-left” axis, not the authoritarian-libertarian axis.

Its just a way to broadly group political views. Points can plot on far to the right or left, auth or lib.

    There can be lib/right or auth/right, lib/left and auth/lef…and also moderate/centrist.

Im nit attempting to redefine or obscure terms, just to illustrate that views plot all over.

Regarding the "nuclear secrets," while on my walk I did think of one situation where Trump might feel justified in keeping some top secret stuff.

Transfers of technology and/or money to Iran as part of the Iran Nuclear Deal from previous administration.

I would hope that a list of papers and effects would have been catalogued at the time of Trumps departure, especially if they were going to declassify documents as part of that.

I would then expect reconciliation between what was taken from the White House, what had already been given back to the National Archives, and what was then seized in the raid.

SO, if Trump wins the nomination and leaves DeSantis off, you'll vote how?

Here is the test people are generally talking about, it's just a very loose gauge.

I don't Reddit, so that's not informative. But what you've described doesn't really sound "Left" to me, enough to identify as "Lefty". So then are you "Lefty" gunner because you're left-handed? I mean. If you're communist, whatevs. Who on the left is not these days? But left-handed? Is that even allowed on INGO? :dunno:

On a serious note, you didn't say what your thoughts are on communism/socialism. It's possible to say you're libertarian and still believe in communism. But Anarcho-communists are bat **** crazy. They believe in a world that can't exist. Communism is top-down, authoritarian. It can't exist in any other state. It's impossible to have a stateless communist society at scale. It has to be authoritarian because it is fundamentally against human nature. I suspect you're not that crazy. But some confirmation would be swell.

I've always thought left-libertarians were an odd mix, because individualism is less correlated along the left side of the political compass. Collectivism is more correlated along the left side. Individualism is fundamental to libertarians. It's just odd to say you're both. Gary Johnson, for example, identifies as libertarian, but is bat. ****. crazy. That dude does not have a firm grip on reality. At least he's not full on Anarcho-communist bat **** crazy. Yet. It wouldn't surprise me to see him dressed in Black Bloc some day.

I wouldn’t believe this until the warrant comes out. And even then, there’s no upside for Trump to retain nuclear secrets (unless it shows corruption in the government.)

This is the new thing going around that supposedly the urgency for getting a search warrant and doing a raid at this time was about there allegedly being top secret documents in Trump's possession that if they were to fall into the wrong hands it would be cause for deep concern.

btw... Trump says go ahead and unseal everything.

I posted by accident before I had completed my thoughts, sorry.

I added a bit, including this:
My views on communism? Coerced collectivism is abhorrent, voluntary collectivism is fine. Ownership of the means of production? Entrepreneurship accomplishes that better than central state action can.

My views on capitalism? It‘s the best system we have found, but there are issues with scaling. As economies grow capitalism tends to centralize power into the hands of a few as well as any system does.

I guess my views best distill down to this: I think The state is a necessary evil. I don’t think the government should be dismantled, I think it should be treated like fire or high voltage: used where and when appropriate, but carefully and deliberately, because it’s misuse is certain to be damaging.

We have a party of the state. We have a party of Trump. We have no party of good governance.

If I had a better choice I would greet it enthusiastically, instead I tend to hold my nose and vote dem.
