Yes. "registered" is a redundant term. "Registration" assumes you contacted a local agency to add your pistol to a list of local guns.So maybe I can learn something here...... I was always informed when buying firearms out of state such as stripped lowers, that they have to ship to my FFL in Indiana because a stripped lower can be built into a rifle or pistol version. With that being said, I can go to KY and purchase a factory AR15 that was made as a rifle and transport it home. If I was in KY and purchased a factory built AR15 built as a pistol w/brace, it would require shipping to my FFL in Indiana.
I had a factory PSA AK-V with a side folding brace. Which had to go through my FFL because it's factory configuration was "pistol". AM I missing something with your question or did I use the wrong word by saying "registered"? If the AKV came in a factory rifle format and I chopped the barrel down to 9" and put a brace on it, wouldn't I be a felon??? To be legal I would have to register it as an SBR......
I think I see what you mean. An AR15 lower receiver has to be designated as a rifle or a pistol. And you can't disassemble your designated rifle and assemble a pistol using that lower. So maybe I can learn something here...... Well explained. Thanks!Yes. "registered" is a redundant term. "Registration" assumes you contacted a local agency to add your pistol to a list of local guns.
A 4473 transfer is not a registration per se. In fact both your rifle and pistol are both "registered" in your mind. The literal only difference is on was shipped, and one was hand carried. Both required a 4473 to transfer to you.
So the difference is all in your head.
BATF made a search-able registry with 4473 forms. GoA and several representatives are trying to force them to get rid of it. So any firearm that is on a 4473 will be registered at some point by the BATF. They say they have over 1 billion 4473s on a search-able data base already.Yes. "registered" is a redundant term. Yep. If you bought a gun and the store went out of business before your 20 years was up, your gun is in the registry.BATF made a search-able registry with 4473 forms. Be a shame if someone discarded a lit cigarette near all those pallets…Yep. If you bought a gun and the store went out of business before your 20 years was up, your gun is in the registry.
They are digitizing all those old records "out of storage convenience" so they dont have to store pallet after pallet after pallet of boxes of forms.
As a former Police Officer I can tell you that cops have not cornered the market on Common Sense. There were many, many times I had to bite my tongue in the squad room, as well as with a partner in the patrol car. Just like any work situation, I think. Was at Point Blank in Merrillville one time and the RO saw I was shooting some Critical Defense. He told me I should use those because the polymer tip will melt on your feed ramp and jam it up. And he was told by a cop!

I suspect this is how every LGS makes their real money: Sticking it to panic buying rubes who barge in asking for whatever AR they have in stock and having no idea what anything should cost.I was in a LGS in Plainfield just browsing some AR parts. This was right when Covid craziness started. Older guy walks in, goes straight to the AR’s and tells the guy, “I’m here for a FIVE FIVE SIX!” Worker pulls the first one off the shelf, and proceeds to tell the guy something along the lines of “This is one of the best AR’s out there.” It’s a Diamondback. Meanwhile, I’m an isle over and overhear this and just kind raise my eyes a bit over the isle thinking, “A Diamondback is one of the best AR’s, really? Let’s see how this goes down.” Guy looks it over, asks again to make sure that this thing will shoot FIVE FIVE SIX. Asks how much. $1200. “Alright, let’s do the paperwork.”
Hahaha, this event start to finish literally took probably 30 seconds.
Since I don't work on commission, I get to state my honest opinions instead of thinking about profit margins. I ask questions to the customer to fit their needs to their purchases. I like to think I still have a little bit of integrity.I suspect this is how every LGS makes their real money: Sticking it to panic buying rubes who barge in asking for whatever AR they have in stock and having no idea what anything should cost.
A fool and his money.

Winner...I was at a gun store and a guy pulled an airsoft gun on of his buddys who worked there and fired off several rounds...... This was at a gunstore where many off duty LEO and staff, customers are all armed and things turned out alright but wow.....
WEll,,,, Okay... Not knowing more about what was actually going on...At a gun show while looking at a local dealer’s table. He told two people at the table when it came to the money/4473 on a gun they were buying that he just needed someone’s ID. It didn’t matter who’s. And said there’s no law that says you can’t gift a gun to another person in the state of Indiana.
