This is the suspicious part. Supposedly he was unemployed. Couple that with the un resolved question of how he got there to purchase the rifles the day before since he couldn't drive? Did someone help him with the money to purchase the rifles and then provided him transportation to get there?
HA! This is the one time I'd vote for HILARY!

Maybe tic tic, twitter, Facebook, etc. could figure out how to create an algorithm that if you post I just shot, I’m going to shoot up, I’m going to blow up, I’m going to kill, etc, it would notify local authorities so they could respond appropriately.
How many people do you think say things like that and never do anything compared to the number that actually do?

Wow 40 minutes…..ask Denny though, only police officers will run to the sound of gunfire, combat vets and civilians Can’t and won’t pull the trigger when the time comes.
Wow, misrepresent my words much? This is my EXACT quote from post 104, "I've seen trained officers fail to pull the trigger when they should have. I'm sure those in the military who have gone to war can say the same thing about many of their fellow soldiers. Lots of practiced gun owners could NEVER take a life to save theirs or someone they love." How do twist that into your post? Your biases are blinding you.

    As to arming teachers.
Have you folks actually met any of the kids teachers. Sat with them I. P/T conference. You might reassess this thought if you have. I can not think of 1 teacher/admin I have met in the last 10 years of being around the grandkids that I would want to arm/train. Nothing like the teachers when I went to school.
Harden the buildings. Eliminate enough middle management positions that are political and actually have an armed presence in the building. Just doing that might deter a lot of the problems but it will generate more internal issues as the inmates are running some of the asylum’s.
This is a very deep and twisting rabbit hole.
Yes I've meet with many teachers most are hunters including the principal at the middle school in my area. I have no problem seeing these teachers armed. Many are well trained all ready because they do a lot at shooting clubs in the area also.
When we say arm the teachers it isn't the ones who a flakes but the ones who want to defend themselves and their students from these kinds of attacks. The ones willing to go through an approved course set by the school board and or state.

Now is a good time to remind our elected officials of their constitutional oath of office.

more or less in early posts in this thread. When you start putting all these together it starts to sound like someone is against private self defense especially anyone other than a cop being responsible for the security of a school.

Let’s have a little accountability here eh ?

Probably a lot, but minimal compared to the population. Still should be a simple thing to do. It’s not like 5000 people would post this at one time in any given city or town and overwhelm the system. Maybe you fund the police to hire people to monitor this.

    Old article but very fitting.

"Even so, arming resource officers and teachers must be viewed as a last line of defense. We must stop killers outside the school, as in Israel. Here's what we should do:

►Districts should post trained and capable armed guards outside as well as inside schools.

►They should also consider reducing the number of entrances to the building, so these guards can monitor traffic.

►Where feasible, schools could install metal detectors to ensure that nobody can sneak a weapon onto campus.

►Classroom doors must be made more secure against an attack. Classrooms should be equipped with the means to barricade these doors.

School shootings are a matter of seconds and minutes: Precious moments of delay could be enough to stop a shooter."

Unless the responders sit outside for 30+ minutes and allow the carnage.

I'm not for "arming teachers", clearly it's not their job and it comes with a different set of skills and mindset.
Giving guns to teachers who want nothing to do with guns would be a terrible idea.

On the other hand I'm for allowing teachers to be armed, if they're already legally armed.

It's crazy that a teacher can legally carry a gun around kids at a local library (when he's not at work) but it becomes illegal (so somewhat dangerous?) for him to carry around the same kids at work.

Parents coming to pick up their kids at school should also be be allowed to be armed.

Schools shouldn't be "gun free zones" since we clearly can't keep bag guys from bringing guns there, let's allow the good guys to do the same to level the playing field.

If you're legally carry a gun everywhere it's crazy that you can become a felon by crossing an imaginary line when you come pick up your grandkids at school.

You must not realize the 2nd amendment stops on school property unfortunately for teachers who want to be armed they are forbidden.

Parents can be armed on school property as long as they don't get out if their cars with their firearm.

according to the timeline officers had him “penned up” in a classroom at 11:32. Was that a classroom that had kids bleeding out in it?

11:32 a.m. Ramos enters the school through a west entrance and is approached by one Uvalde ISD school resource officer. No gunfire is exchanged. Ramos continues into the school.
    • Ramos travels down a short hallway, turns right, then left and enters a classroom. "That's where the carnage began," McCraw said. Ramos opens fire on students and teachers. The classroom is connected internally to another classroom.
    • Several law enforcement agencies - including Uvalde police and Uvalde ISD officers - converge on the classroom, breach the door, engage Ramos, and "keep him pinned down at that location."
    • A tactical team comprised of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents, a Zavala County deputy, and two Uvalde police officers enter the classroom. Officers shoot and kill Ramos on the scene.

11:43 a.m.: Robb Elementary posts on Facebook that their campus was under lockdown "due to gunshots in the area."

12:17 p.m.: Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District announces the shooting on Twitter.
12:30 p.m.: Uvalde Fire Department scanner traffic calls on "additional firemen needed to respond to Mill Street to establish a perimeter to assist Uvalde EMS and Uvalde PD. Once again, we need to respond to South Grove and Mill Street."

1:06 p.m.: Police report that the suspected shooter was killed by officers at the scene after they broke into the classroom.

This! Teaching should not be a jobs program for people too fragile for the world. If we can't trust you with a gun, why in God's name do we trust you with a room full of children.
I DON'T trust them. That's the point. Unfortunately, there aren't enough sane, mature, thoughtful young people looking at careers, who want to do the job!

Cops stood outside blocked parents threatening to shoot them with a taser while the killer was on the loose in the school.

The fact that parents had time to get there and this crowd situation formed before the shooter even dealt with is a testament to how long it took for the police to deal with this.

From an NBC interview with a teacher,

“As the children huddled under their desks, staying quiet as their wounded classmates wailed from down the hall, the teacher sat on the floor in the middle of the room. She tried to stay calm, she said. To be strong for them.

What followed, she said, was “the longest 35 minutes of my life”

Do you really think it would be a good idea to allow a bunch of screaming, emotionally distraught, unarmed parents to storm the building and contribute to the confusion and possibly get shot themselves?

No I think if the cops would do their F***ing job it wouldn’t have come to this and we would have less dead kids. How many of those kids bled out while waiting 35-40 minutes?

Real life isn’t the movies, death doesn’t come immediately after getting shot. Like it or not these kids could be in the wounded column and not the dead one if it hadn’t taken so long.

    21 killed no wounded

What I believe is teachers that want to be armed protectors of their classrooms should be trained and armed. Others that are not comfortable with that role should not be trained and armed. The people I hear that advocate arming teachers also follow this line of thought. It is the liberal left gun haters that always seem to talk about arming all teachers weather they want to be armed or not. I do not agree with that, many people and not just teachers should not carry a firearm. That is what they do, take a good idea and pervert it into something stupid. Jim.

You're right there. In real life, Rambo doesn't always go charging in to save the day. In real life, decisions are made beforehand to hopefully make the best choices. It's tragic that it took so long but quit blaming the cops or go suit up.

Here's another thought. Maybe if the cops hadn't been tied up dealing with people that wanted to rush in, they could have concentrated on the situation at hand instead of being distracted with crowd control.
