I just thought of the mnemonic for the value in ohms corresponding to the color bands on resistors. Fellow EE geeks will know why I can't post it here.

Black, brown, red,orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, gray, white. Representing 0-9 respectively.

First 3 colors are digits.

4th color is number of zeroes after those numbers.



For some reason, they did away with the colors, and went with printing.
Which, is stupid.
Small resistors, bad eyes, difficult locations to read, aged component with dirt on it... kinda hard to read it.

why did physics have to know resistors?

And, the Navy (and I'm assuming the others) wouldn't let you be in electronics if you were colorblind.
Not sure how people do it in the Civie world.
I've had to help guys at work, because they couldn't cope with the color coding on anything.

I remember building a multimeter from a kit in second or third semester physics; if you can't read the resistor code and soldered one into the wrong place, your meter wouldn't work.

Yes, my opinion is evolving also to the point that I want to support post-birth abortion with no age restriction. Starting with the unwanted wastes of cells currently protesting outside Justices' homes.
