After years of observing the reactions of both the public and our political leaders, it seems like they believe something like the following fictional narrative.

They can see ExxonMobil executives sitting around a smoke-filled boardroom, saying “Well, we have the public right where we want them. It’s time to jack up the price of gasoline and gouge them while we can. Put a bulletin out to all of our gas stations and let them know. Oh, and call Chevron and Shell and make sure they are on board.”

I know people believe this, because I have had them repeat every element of this story to me at one time or another. So they rage at the oil companies. They demand that they be held accountable. Politicians call them up to Washington and chastise them for the harm they are doing to consumers.

**** these politicians. Most would not know the first damn thing about running a business. Even fewer have ever signed the front of a paycheck. They can go to Hell.

    Fun fact:

The margin at gas stations is minimal and tends to be relatively fixed on a cents per gallon basis.

Meanwhile, higher purchase price tends to drive up credit card fees since they are most often based on a percentage of transaction price. Thus a hike in retail gas prices tends to drive costs higher and drive margins for the retailer down.

He pushed for a lot of the spending, signed everything on his desk. Sure you can blame others, and I also am....the entire party, both of them. Covid shouldn't of had anything to do with it....it was just a $$$$ making scam and Trump bought it and used it to pay out Billions. I'm not accepting excuses...as they said in the Army the maximum range for a excuse is 0 meters. We are all just maggots on the gut pile of life to the government, some like me have finally figured that out, some haven't. I do give Trump lots of credit and he did many good things...have always said that, voted for him and gave him the chance....and since I voted for him I can also criticize him and the party when I see the bad. All I'm trying to do is shoot up a flare of warning for others to think about and see.....but alas.....most rather look at fireworks and ignore a signal flare......just like before the Titanic sank. That’s $38.50 more cuts than any previous administration.

I don't drive a diesel truck but I do have a tractor that uses diesel. Last year I thought a bit about maybe getting a 100 gallon or so tank to store diesel. It's a pain to have to fill up a bunch of jerry cans when I run out. I decided not to. Now I wish I would have. I haven't had a hard time finding off-road diesel. But the price really sucks. If I can't get it then a lot of projects I have planned this summer just won't happen.
Jamil, do you know anyone who has an aircraft? Most airports have off road diesel as a lot of support equipment runs on diesel and never leaves the airport. Usually it is the FBO that 'sells' it and it is usually just a few pennies above cost.
You need someone who keeps an a/c at the FBO to get access, aa they will have an account and can say it is for a tug or a salamander or some other logical ICE device

The only funny thing about this is,listening to all the Obiden voters crying!
I just say, what did you expect.
    Hope they lose it all!
Had this discussion with a longtime friend of my wife's that railed at us for supporting trump. They were dead up Obidns back side.
Until now. Now they see it. Now they are pissed. Yes, the mean tweets convinced them Trump was a meanie and yes, he was. It's what we hired him to do. But when he got to work the way to sensitive Karens, and their lap dog hubbies were offended.
I told this woman just today she and her ilk were the problem....not Trump.

I mean. That would be sweet. I don't know anyone who has an aircraft.
