Progressives' guide to “deleting” their Twitter accounts.

    1. Tweet that you're leaving twitter if Elon Musk takes over.
    2. Engage in whaling and gnashing of teeth
    3. Make your twitter account private so that people think you've deleted it.
    4. Bask in the earned virtue of having followed through with "deleting" your account.
    5. Wait until you see others tweet who also claimed they're leaving, and then make your account public again
    6. Continue using twitter to harass and bully people with different opinions.
Progressives usually wail and gnash their teeth at people who go whaling too.

I think I disagree. Anonymous speech is freedom to put out any unsubstantiated BS without any repercussions. Want to say something? Say whatever you want, but put your name on it. That's why I dislike "anonymous sources" in media. No proof, no verification, no liability whatsoever.
Private citizens aren't media, and false speech is protected speech. This country could not have been founded without anonymous speech that our rulers couldn't control and couldn't retaliate against.

Think something is untrue? You submit better information yourself, you don't silence or retaliate against the person speaking it.

Interesting if true. All the whining. I guess if I were convinced that Twitter as it is now is what’s keeping the country from losing “democracy” and sliding into a tyranny of fascism, maybe I’d have a big sad too.

But really, right now? I’m just savoring the schadenfreude. Maybe Musk won’t make Twitter better. But today Twitter IS better. Stupid people are sad because their slactivist virtue cred is melting away. And that makes Twitter better today. And that makes me smile.

I mean. Like I said, I’m enjoying Twitter more now than I have in several years. I’m pretty sure they actually believe Musk is a fascist. That democracy itself depends on their ability to control what people can say. It’s an astonishing level of indoctrination. So complete.
