    Just Passing Through
I have been going thru all my reloaded ammo and factory the last couple weeks, came across 4of the 50 cal plastic ammo boxes all full of cci primers, after finding them i remember i think i bought them in 2013 and just put them back for rainy days well with prices the way they are its a good find now i think i might be a reloading hoarder whatcha all think? I need to do a better job of organization so i will know where everything is.
Remember that time I loaned you $20?

I’m gonna need that back in primers at 2013 prices please.

They will use any excuse under the sun to raise prices. If it was not materials costs it would be labor costs. If not labor costs it would be utility costs. They will do anything now that they are part of the limited number of the cabal members that controls ammo production in the USA.

Primers were making a comeback during the Fall and I thought that better days were ahead. Now, I'm wondering if the manufacturers were just releasing some to the market for a short while to tamp down the frustration of the reloading customer base. I obtained plenty for my needs but still wish I would have bought some more of the ones I passed on.

Those of us that have a few more pennies than brain cells will keep shooting, though less. But if a person is raising a family or tightening up because of necessities going up everyday, sending .30 or more down range with each pull of a trigger takes all the fun out of shooting. The biggest reason Vista is raising prices is because they can, at this time. Here in southern Ohio all the RK's are sitting on pallets of 9mm and have been for several weeks.

This is very true for me. My wife and I were talking today that I need to start thinking of a new hobby. I have enough to shoot through next summer if I mix factory rounds in my weekly shooting. So I have a little time to see if the market recovers a bit.

I have decided that when I finish loading my last primer, if the market isn't any better, I'm off to something else.

Perhaps .22 exclusively. Or maybe I'll pursue more shotgun sports. Shotgun shooting is not as easy to find where I live, but I would at least have my club that has throwers.

I got caught short in the Obama years. Lesson learned. "I" am just dandy. "We" maybe not. After 2024 I might slow down if things don't come back. I may learn to make my own black powder though.
Well...I thought I was all stocked up on primers also. Now I'm getting nervous, especially on SPP. These days I shoot 95% 9mm, so those are a problem. With ammo prices coming back into the atmosphere, I may start buying bulk ammo to save my remaining primers!

I am doing this. I'm saving my reloads for next year's events and am shooting factory stuff during the winter. My plan is to get everything loaded up during the winter without depleting any of it.

I need to give my budget a rest for a billing cycle but will resume buying 1k per month of factory stuff unless I can score more primers.

    That’s rather depressing.
The price increase is BS. The price of raw materials has not gone up at the pace of primer pricing. So this is just piling on. The no new orders for a year doesn't mean they won't be making primers for a year They will be filling the back orders that will take a year to catch up. So I'm hoping there will still be a tricke of primers to the retail market. I could be totally wrong though.
I'm hoping the midterm elections will flip the power and things will calm down.
But....If you see primers available you better get em.

We went to Bass Pro in Cincinnati Ohio and they had CCI Small Rifle BR4 primers. 500pc limit and my wife was with me so I was able to get 1K. Again, I was shocked when I went to pay. Bass Pro is charging $12.99/100 for BR4's. My total was $138.99 with tax! That is almost 14 cents a piece!!! The only primer I would buy again for that price is the Fed GM210M Large Rifle Match. Those are VERY hard to find right now.
