Some people are severely affected by bee stings. Acquired immunity from covid is cool....if you live through it. Not something I'd recommend to Grandma.

I'd show her the chart on hospitalizations and deaths by age group.

Then I'd give her Darwin's "Origin of Species".
That’s not really a recommendation tho, is it? That’s more informing her.

What would you recommend grandma does?

(I’m sure we have the same recommendation for grandma, for what it’s worth)

Also, grandma currently has Covid. Any recommendations for currently infected grandma?

My mom had kidney function around 5% when she was 80. She could let it go and die within a short period of time (rather peacefully, I've been told), she could get on the hemodialysis regimen/treadmill, or she could try peritoneal dialysis at home, at night.

    What would you recommend?

    (un?)related Anecdote of the day:

Just got back from visiting friends in Chicago. One of their kids is a varsity basketball rock star - already being scouted as a HS freshman. Needless to say, he’s healthy. Paranoid mom takes him in for “the jab.” Same day she finds him face down in the bathroom for unknown amount of time, won’t wake up, entirely unresponsive. She freaks the f out, can barely call 911. In the meantime, kid wakes up, oblivious to what just happened, comments to mom about how they should get new tile in the bathroom.

    Probably an unrelated coincidence.

Currently being monitored by family doc.

If she had Covid I would recommend the antibody treatment as well as vitamins b,c,d, and zinc... possibly ivermectin if she can handle it, plus the normal pedialite, water all day.

If she didn’t have Covid I would recommend she stay out of unnecessary situations such as grocery stores and festivals. Let us or other family bring groceries, and if she must go somewhere be aware of her surroundings and what she touches.

Since you have now identified as a clinician, you need to provide me your expert opinion on what kidney treatment/option you recommend.

    Thanks Doc.

Part IV on a series of the "research" involving Ivermectin (the human dewormer, not horse) for Covid. It seems they made most if not all of it up.

So, let me get this straight, data out of a 3rd world country didnt add up, so that makes all studies and firsthand experiences void?

This is a reach, even for you. Why are you so worried about ivermectin being a treatment option? Does it make you feel stupid for getting a rushed vaccine, knowing there are alternate treatments that are more effective?

Oh, i see how this works.

“What would you recommend she does?”

“Oh, so now you’re a doctor?”

I don’t care what she does. She can lick door handles in Asia for all I care, I’m just telling you what I would recommend my grandma do based off studies that actually show improvements.

For ****s sake not a single ducking person here is advocating going out and intentionally getting Covid. That ****ing straw man needs to be burned to the ****ing ground already. You ****ing know we are talking about the 30milkionnpeople that have already had and recovered.

so please stop with this ********.

The POINT is, we both are not qualified to make that decision for others, whether it be covid, dialysis etc.

But, we get put into a position of providing advice to the elderly. I did all the research I could possibly do on the options for my mom. I said that peritoneal dialysis looked like the best bet. She survived 7 years with it.

No, it is not obvious that is what you are talking about. At best, it is described herein as the "unvaccinated". And that definition has changed over time as we learn more about acquired immunity. So please dismount your high horse.

He's committed to horse dewormer, and can't change horses mid race.
