It is real. It was obtained by The Washington Post and Buzzfeed News by a FOIA request along with hundreds of pages more.

It was from a point in time early last year before masks became the symbol for all sheep to unite behind. However that should not affect the evaluation of the effectiveness of whatever physical mask he is talking about.

Cant be true. We were told by many in here that masks are only positive and can cause no harm whatsoever and if you believe otherwise myyyyyy riiiiiiiiiiights people are dumb.

So Fauci wasn’t lying back then when he said masks won’t help us. He was lying when he said they would. And then he doubled down when he said we should wear two.

Why not just infer what is most obviously implied by the email, AND present research findings, to draw the most obvious conclusion?

Masks only protect you from the larger droplets like when people cough or sneeze on you. You're still getting aerosolized virus blown at you through the mask, when people cough or sneeze. Fortunately, it takes prolonged exposure to aerosolized virus to get enough to become infected seriously. Droplets are not the primary cause of spread. It's people being in proximity of infected people for long periods of time, regardless of mask usage.

Is there a reason to cling to the former narrative at this point? Masks mandates were never necessary and did not contribute to decreasing the spread of covid in any meaningful way. All of us who were haranguing the Trumpers for not wearing masks were wrong. And yes, I do include myself in that. We were wrong. That narrative is no longer viable. Time to admit it and move on.

Admit it - sure. But before moving on, it would be good to learn something from it.

Tangentially, NPR ran a story this morning about the MSM's quick discounting that the coronavirus was the result of a lab, and why they were biased and are slowly warming up to the possibility. Maybe that will happen here.


PS - tl/dl, Trump said it came from a lab so they just laughed it off, now Biden says it could be from a lab, so time to investigate. Yes, NPR admitted that.
