All of this. I for one am sick of the Kirks constantly talking down to anyone that disagrees, calling them anti-science and pulling the myeeee riiiiiights ********. Either have a rational argument that you can defend or shut the **** up. We don’t need more of this divisive ********. If you can’t understand there’s more going on than your black and white narrative then you really have no place in this conversation.
    I can’t like this post enough .

.............As reported by the CDC ... Here are the US deaths by year and the change
    from the previous year.
    Year 2017: 2,818,503 Americans died
Year 2018: 2,839,205 deaths (20,702 more than the previous year 2017)
Year 2019: 2,855,000 deaths (16,300 more than the previous year 2018)

The year of the pandemic ...
Year 2020: 2,913,144 deaths (57,641 more than the previous year 2019)

BUT WAIT: There were zero deaths from Covid-19 during 2018, and 2019
and the jump from 2019 was only 57,641 ???

I've been told that COVID is responsible now for 400,000 + deaths.
Shouldn't the 2020 number be a hell of a lot higher?
So the question becomes: How many people died of COVID and How many died (of other causes) WITH COVID?

I isolated NHT3's post to just the "math" of the situation, which I find compelling. I've been looking for this sort of information free from interpretation: just the facts about death rates before & during the Covid. Thanks!

Can we include SwikLS's lame memes in this, too?

Is this really CNBC?!? What happens when liberal media reports things are contrary to the narrative?

This also mentions mask use, so I tossed it in here.

I stand by my statement that if the data collection is flawed / fraudulent then there can be no valid conclusion drawn from tainted data. This is not the modern version of the plague or Spanish Flu.

There a pandemic. The only ones denying it are the grifters on the Right that have a nonsense agenda to sell.

People that buy into the "Covid-19 ain't real" pay for it. See Ted Nugent.

If the pro-mask side is full of it, then there is no harm.

If the anti-mask is full of it, there there is a novel virus that continues along to do its harm.

Covid was real, but the politicians used it to create the boogy man to scare the sheeple.
    Remember the original predictions?
Death rates? How easily it could spread? The if we don't do what the powers that be decree we will all die!
We we ever know how many covid actually killed by itself? Nope, that would disprove all the hype that was being spread. How about the common flu? Usually kills thousands or more, but in 2020? Almost nonexistant! Tell me again how the wondrous scientists with all of their great abilities had no clue and for every "fact" there were exceptions and discrepancies.
Tell me again how this wasn't involving politics? Tell me again how the exspurts got it right with oxygen therapies and no current drugs could impact this virus? Once again the front line doctors were frequently ignored and attacked by the "exspurts" and the media.
Many, many questions and no valid answers given that would convince logical thinkers, only sheeple and sheeple wannabe's.
Was it bad? Yep! Was it the end of the world as we know it? Nope! Will it be around forever? Yep.

OK, today I saw something that absolutely takes the cake - two people, maybe spouses, on bikes with masks. :n00b:
I’ve see that several times. Wife and I go biking every chance we get at a park that is often very busy. I see at least a half dozen people with masks each time. Biking with masks on. I can think of one sane reason to wear masks while biking. But not quite this time of year. But during ragweed season it does get bad there. People with allergies have a reason then to wear masks. I kinda think the people I see now wearing masks aren’t all that sane.

Was just at a gas station in Louisville. I saw lots of people wearing masks as they drove up and pumped their gas. Outside. In the sun.

Yup, goes to my point about the lack of public education. Face shield is perfectly fine, accomplishes the goal of the mask and she can function.

    1. We did a horrible job teaching why the mask (or face shield) is important. Many still think it is to protect them (heck, I had this conversation in court with a fellow attorney who thought the mask was for them)

    2. The mask immediately became a political banner instead of a way to help your fellow citizen.

    3. The feds completely bungled up by issues conflicting advice and not setting a standard or even a goal (wear a mask because we say so).
So you are telling us that the CDC is made up of liars? Please recall that the CDC recently released the results of their own study, echoing the studies they dismissed a year ago, that masks are at best marginally effective and then doubled down on pushing them.

And you are seeing the end result of this phase in the grand theater. The next act will be even more idiotic I am sure as theses same sheep will be a catalyst.

We? What was your part in the failure, exactly?
The only people I know of who believe masks protect THEM are the people I see wearing masks in the Park while jogging or riding bikes, far away from people. The people not wearing them have doubtlessly heard the lectures. They know. It wasn't because Karen hasn't spent enough time telling them. People have heard it and heard it. It's to stop droplets. Well. Everyone but your lawyer friend.

    2. The mask immediately became a political banner instead of a way to help your fellow citizen.
Masks became a political banner for a few reasons. If you recall the people who don't like wearing masks today were wearing them very early in the pandemic until Fauci told them they won't help them. Back then, the people who are now mask Nazis ridiculed people for wearing them then.

Despite the limited utility of wearing masks in crowded spaces to help prevent spreading the virus, I don't blame people for deciding that masks were a political tool. Because Fauci and the media made it political. And then they complain when the mask skeptics agree that it's political.

    3. The feds completely bungled up by issues conflicting advice and not setting a standard or even a goal (wear a mask because we say so).

Yeah. Telling people that masks won't help them, and then recommending mask mandates, is not convincing. Plus, "wear a mask because we say so," is an invitation to be told to **** off. And rightly so. This is the trade-off in a free society. Governments don't get to say "wear a mask because I said so." In a free society, you have to convince people that they should chose so. And you don't convince them by telling them they don't need masks, then telling them even a gauze mask can be effective, and everyone can wear any old mask. And then, being caught in public not wearing a mask just after you say everyone must.

Is it really shocking that the chamber-o-commerce Republicans in Indiana were told to **** off?

I have always decried the confusion of mask efficacy b/c of the political element.
Even if it is of limited value, b/c of the wife, I have been diligent & take that limited option & mask up for her.
I took her to the emergency room just 2 weeks ago with heart pain & with her brittle diabetes & advanced age (she's 2 years older than me ), so she lives on the edge like many.

Went back to church since nearly everyone wears a mask (wife doesn't yet since a few don't & very large crowds).
last Monday evening we just started going back to a family Bible study (everyone had been Zooming) where only my wife & I are still wearing masks.
I just went back to a 6 am Old Men's Prayer breakfast last Tuesday.
Some of them (or family members) have had Covid & been hospitalized.
Note: They said my punishment for not having been there was I had to lead the devotionals for a month. :lmfao:

My professional Men's Friday 6 am Bible study where we have military, medical & business owners (12-20 guys) didn't wear masks last year since we were outside (I did for the wife, though), but when we went inside everyone masked up.
Masking will probably be coming to an end soon, but for the wife's peace of mind, I'll continue masking for her.
Yes, I do feel a little stupid sometimes, but I want the wife to have peace of mind over my looking stupid.

You'll be glad to know when the wife & I walk or bicycle, even she doesn't wear a mask. ;)

    God bless you friend.

This is how people should act. If you or someone you know is high risk, you should protect yourself.

Personally I'm over masking, aside from church where I'm in close proximity with many older people. I just don't see the benefit aside from not being looked at funny. I see more and more without them.

My family (folks are prime vid targets) has said nope. My wife is high risk and has said nope. All parties are sone with this. If masks were effective this thing would have stopped long ago.
That's akin to saying, "if guns were effective, crime would have stopped long ago."
