Literally nobody has ever told me that. When the lights come on, you pull over as close to immediately as you can. You don't get to just drive on and on until you find a location that is convenient to you.

If somebody is going around telling people "just don't stop driving until you get to an open gas station with cameras, otherwise the police will hate crime you", that person needs to shut their ignorant trap because they are creating more violent incidents by telling people to run from the police.

There you go. Now you don’t have to feel left out. 3 articles 3 different states where police tell you if you don’t feel safe to drive to a well lit area.

"But police impersonators existed somewhere, at some point in the past" is not an excuse to ignore a traffic stop. By that logic you might as well open fire on police to "defend yourself" because at some point in the past some police officer somewhere in the country killed someone wrongfully.

Always excuses, excuses for people who behave like they don't know the things that all of knew unanimously a couple of years ago. When the police lights come on, you pull over and stop. It's not rocket science, it's just a traffic stop, something we've all experienced and are all expected to know how to deal with. No, you don't just keep driving and then whine about "muh police impersonators" when the cops rightfully treat you like someone who fled a traffic stop.

I cannot help but see a disconnect between someone who is supposedly afraid for his safety but opts for doing nothing but actions that will inflame the situation. When an officer wants to see your HANDS it is plural, sticking just one out the window is just going to ramp up the situation. When being told to exit the vehicle, failure to comply, especially in light of lack of compliance on the show of hands, is going to ramp the situation. IMO he should have stuck both hands out the window when told, exited the vehicle when told and obeyed all other commands. He could easily have wound up ventilated with one wrong move, and it would have been the stupid prize for playing a stupid game

I shot my way out of the drug deal because I was scared. I ran from the cops at 130 mph because I was scared. I shot at the cops because I was scared. I resisted arrest because I was scared. I refused to do anything I was told to do from the get-go because I was scared. I hid in the ditch because I was scared.

Being scared is a popular excuse among cowards.

Haven't police departments come out and said, if you're concerned about this during a traffic stop, call 911 and explain that you're going to a lighted area? I could swear i've seen that somewhere.

I’ve heard the same but never have. Maybe if I was a single lady on a dark road somewhere, but seems it’d escalate a probably no big deal situation. Get your ticket n go on.

Did he call 911? Did he have any legitimate basis for not stopping, at all? Or did he just sneer in the rearview and say "I'll stop when I'm ready, preferably somewhere with lots of lights and cameras for what I'm about to do"?

When pulling someone over for not having a license plate is it common practice to draw on them right out of the gate?

I would dare say, the question is NOT: "When pulling someone over for not having a license plate is it common practice to draw on them right out of the gate?", but rather the question is, when ordered by police to exit the vehicle, why would one refuse to comply and argue?????????

Ahhh, but then as I see the rest of the video, I see exactly what`s happening in this original post...more politically correct, poor certain people BS.

I won`t get drawn into this crap.

The Town of Windsor, Virginia, acknowledges the unfortunate events that transpired on December 5, 2020 involving Lt. Caron Nazario and officers of the Windsor Police Department, Joe Gutierrez and Daniel Crocker.

The pursuit and ultimate stop resulted in the use of pepper spray against Lt. Nazario by Officer Gutierrez. As a result of this use of force, Department policy requires an internal investigation to determine the appropriateness of such actions. The investigation of this event began immediately. At the conclusion of this investigation, it was determined that Windsor Police Department policy was not followed. This resulted in disciplinary action, and department-wide requirements for additional training were implemented beginning in January and continue up to the present. Since that time, Officer Gutierrez was also terminated from his employment.

The Town of Windsor has remained transparent about this event since the initial stop, and has openly provided documents and related video to attorneys for Lt. Nazario. The Town will continue to provide information related to this event in its commitment to openness. The Town has also requested an investigation of this event by the Virginia State Police, and joins with elected officials who have called for a full and complete review of the actions of these officers.

The Town of Windsor prides itself in its small-town charm and the community-wide respect of its Police Department. Due to this, we are saddened for events like this to cast our community in a negative light. Rather than deflect criticism, we have addressed these matters with our personnel administratively, we are reaching out to community stakeholders to engage in dialogue, and commit ourselves to additional discussions in the future.

Unpopular opinion here: regardless of reason for driving to a well lit location his putting his hands out the window and refusing to make any movements that would have dropped them from sight probably saved him from getting shot. Imagine how this would have played out if he had dropped his hands from view....,,
