You can if you make them believe the mob will not come for them, that going along to get along will leave their comfortable existence undisturbed

No wonder the progressives want to teach their own version of history

What drivel. I thought Reuters was supposed to be one of the "objective news sources?"

"...households that are doing really well and have a lot and have seen their stock portfolios rise and haven't lost their jobs shouldn't be getting it."

I haven't lost my job, but I also don't make enough to even have a stock portfolio. It's my tax money, and if it goes out, I better damn well get one too.

"If Congress approves the $1.9 trillion plan, the country would get back to full employment next year, other unemployment would linger for years."

Moronic. Boy, that doesn't sound like a con job/threat at all... The country has NEVER been at full employment, and the socialist pay off plan has absolutely NOTHING to do with the creation of jobs. Shutting down the economy is what destroyed them.

I don't even have the energy to transcribe the pejorative language about Republicans who are "concerned with the national debt" like it's a bad thing. Not to mention demonizing Republicans saying that they are "falling short of what needs to be done."

This crap irritates the hell out of me.

SPY 400 inevitable now. SPY may 400 calls are gonna print money.

I could get deep in the weeds but the long and short of it is poor people get a direct stimulus but rich people’s portfolios are gonna go up so much in the next 6 months that they are better off than if they had gotten the direct payments. Drive that wealth gap a little deeper Janet

Now that they are back in the minority are Republicans worried about national debt again?

“A lot of people talk a good game on free speech. But when there is pressure, they reveal themselves. Some fold in the face of violence or the threat of violence. Some fold in the face of financial loss. Some fold in the face of mere social discomfort. Twitter and Facebook respond to Democratic sensibilities for the same basic reason they — and like-minded cowards in the media, the universities, the HR departments, etc. — respond to other kinds of pressure, including the pressure to censor Charlie Hebdo and other purveyors of unpopular thoughts and images: They may value free speech and freedom of the press, but not as much as they value their social position, an idol to which they will sacrifice many precious things, from principles to honesty to a bit of revenue.

    Today, it’s “I am Charlie!” Tomorrow, it’s “Charlie who?” “ – Kevin Williamson, 2020

What about the people that lost so much because of this but did well last year?

I ended up having to pay a lot more on quarterly taxes for a couple years because I sold a house and showed profit. Had to come up with extra money because they thought I moved up a bracket. Well I didn't. It was an anomaly.

So now I wonder about people that were doing decent before all of this, but lost a job, a loved one or whatever. On paper it shows they are tip top, but in reality they might be scratching to get by.

Do the people that were getting the extra $600/week declare that as income? I hope that they do, since everyone will be paying it back for a long while.

You are putting way more thought into this than they did/are/will.

Thus the added problem. If a dolt like me can wonder about this, why can't the people that are supposedly looking out for this country put some thought into it?

Because they aren't looking out for this country. That is a far distant priority well behind obtaining more and more power. They serve themselves, not you or I.
