Forcing people to sell to anyone is un-American.
I have yet to see or hear of anyone in this thread even suggesting, let alone advocating, that a business should be forced to sell a product to anyone.

The main point is that it's not a good long-term strategic move to alienate new gun owners who could potentially be turned into allies and advocates. If they aren't open to understanding how new gun control laws will affect them then we move on, but why shut the door on the conversation before it's even started?

I understand that it feels good to say, "screw 'em," but that doesn't help us win.

I never read anyone advocate forced selling renting etc. Yet it happens everyday in this country under one law or another. Which imo is unconstitutional and our founders would not have approved.

It occurred to me that it has been suggested that guns be licensed like cars. It also occurred to me that car dealers can sell a car to anyone and, to be legally able to drive, it requires the driver to have a valid drivers license which involves a written and driving test.

Shouldn’t the car dealers be forced to determine if car buyers have a valid drivers license AND the purchaser is a qualified responsible driver ? What about transfers of vehicle ownership thereafter.

This is probably a poor analogy and folks will come up with a lot of loopholes, but. . . . . .

I could easily see someone suing a dealership for something a customer did with a vehicle purchased from the dealer. Our civil courts have decided that no individual is solely responsible for their actions. There are always others to blame, particularly of those others have deep pockets or are not a part of the woke culture.

WE LOST.What do you think we will ever win again? This deck STACKED!
I don’t agree that we have lost. I do think that if we are to win, we must be consistent with what we say. I no it isn’t popular, or feel good, but right is right, even when it is for the “other side”. What makes us different can’t just be guns, it is important and I agree that I won’t budge on that, but we have to be steadfast in a belief in freedom and civil rights. Even if that doesn’t directly help this particular cause.

We can’t cuss the other side, then do the exact same thing, even if in a slightly different manner. Hypocrisy isn’t my style.

Sure it feels good to read it and knee jerk reaction is to say “they don’t like guns anyway”, but I don’t think things like this are helpful for the 2A crowd. I get it when people say they are a private business and can sell to who they want, but what if it was a Dem car dealership refusing to sell to Trump supporters? I doubt we would high five that. We need to stay consistent in what we say we believe in; not let it be situationally dependent upon voting choices.
Well if Trump and his supporters were trying to ban ownership of cars, you might have a point.

FFL's are allowed to make decisions on who they sell to by law without consequence. It could be a feeling- look or action that prevents them from selling to you but it is LEGAL. The BATFE has given this authority to prevent at the last moment of sale to an possible or probable unauthorized person. They know that the "gut feeling" is a bona-fide reason to stop a sale. NO violation of any kind can be brought against the dealer- it is the FFL's FINAL decision...

I wouldn't buy from them so why would I sell to them? :dunno:

Some person you know hates you and wants to kill you walks into your sporting goods store and wants to buy a bat...that they then kill you with later. Nope, not going to sell it to you...and if I see you with a bat later I'll shoot you.

Of course, some folks love doing "business" with the ChiComs too (who are our enemies), same thing.

Come on man... You're not allowed to think for yourself like that. Consequences aren't something we're supposed to concern ourselves with. Eliminate everything but the specific decision at hand and look at it in a vacuum. If you're creating a "victim" by not allowing them to purchase your wares then you're wrong because feelings.

What are you trying to do anyway? You'll drive people capable if independent and critical thinking away from the party of oppression talking like that.

Not every voter literally hates and plans on killing voters of the opposite inclination - do you? :dunno:
