While my sentiments toward you certainly don't equal yours to Kut, then I guess all is said.

I stand by my use of the words myth and ruse, and I stand by my assertion that the high road is best. I have to answer to a higher power than Congress.
Uhh yeah good luck with that champ. When you are in a fight and your adversaries will fight to win by any means but you on the other hand are trying to follow “the high road” you will lose every time.

A better comparison would likely be Twitter, who IS hosted by AWS. Twitter is up and running strong, and tweets calling for violence continue to get "retweeted" 10's of thousands of times, with no repercussions from AWS.

The tag referencing violence against the VP trended for TWO DAYS before Twitter bothered to do anything with it. In that same timeframe, Parler was shut down.

Parler was moderating, and was enforcing their ToS. AWS did not like Parler's process, and pulled the plug. That's the crux of the complaint. No contract violations. Just didn't like it.

There is a quote out there somewhere I can't quite recall.

Something about "not every man can be a hard man", and that sometimes you need a hard man to stand up and do the hard things, so the rest of us can sleep easy.

Be careful: the men you may be looking down upon from your high road, may be the men that make taking the high road possible.

being a US Marine i took an oath as did all members of the military service. I cannot believe all the generals in charge are not taking this as a threat not only to the country but the constitution which they swore to uphold and defend. All enemies foreign and domestic. The military has the power. The Swamp is so dirty and corrupt from both sides it is sickening. The left is trying to take the country down. The Rhinos are helping them. I believe the pedophile Jeffery Epestein has had most of the members of congress on his little Pedo Island. Clintons were there 26 times. Everyone knows what that is. The list of the people who went there is staggering. They dont want to get caught. They dont want this info out. So together they cover each other. And we are left screwed.

Maybe they are taking this seriously and defending the Constitution against foreign and domestic threats - which why they're standing up the CiC.

    Just a thought.

    OK, chief.

Let's discuss this low road - does that mean we have to start lying? Ignore the Constitution? Rig elections? Silence the speech of our opponents? Embrace foreign powers? Set up a ruling class?

How much freedom and liberty are you willing to remove? Because that's what they're doing, right?

How far down will you go to win?

If you put leaders with those ethics and morals into power, how do you trust them to not turn on you when it suits their personal interest?

It doesn’t matter whether they care about Pence or what. What matters is that people used Parler to talk about assassinating the VPOTUS, which violated the ToS.
Amazon hosts a lot of Twitter's real-time services. Twitter has allowed the hashtag #HangMikePence to trend for several days. How does that NOT violate the same ToS that Parler supposedly did?

Ok , first off let me apologize for throwing “champ” in there it did not sound nearly as bad in my head as it does here. Second, I never mentioned a low road that’s yours.

Sorry, I was interrupted by work. Most of those negative things you mentioned are not new at all. As far as removing liberty I’ll have none of that. Unless I’m having a bad dream the only side removing liberty would be the left. My thoughts are that as freedom loving Americans when we catch a politician or corporations up to no good we collectively mash their heads rather than say” oh well maybe next time”

it's cool - whenever I hear pal, buddy, chief, or champ, my brain instantly thinks of Dane Cook's chicken sangwich standup bit.

I said I'll take the high road was general mocked for that. So, I'm really curious about that.
My questions and comments weren't necessarily toward you, but the half dozen or saying we have to get in the mud and fight. In practicality what mean? Without examples, it's flummery.

OK, that's more practical - AWS starts de-platforming, we start publicly cancelling Amazon from our lives, and fight to stop them from getting obscene tax breaks.

For me, that squares up with the high road.

Obscene tax breaks??? You mean that not stealing their money is a break? Somehow that is welfare? It is THEIR MONEY. Washington doesnt need more money. We need a third party no doubt. Look at the republicans in Indiana. I got into a discussion with my representative and she said that look at what good they have done. That we have a 350 million dollar surplus! To which i simply stated that it isnt your job to take my money and save it. If you have extra it means you stole too much from the people. That is a fact. Now they tax items on the internet. Republicans done this. democrats wanted to but the republicans doing their grandstanding stopped it. Now they do it. we need a third party that is actually for the people.

You've cut to the core of it here.
The only orgs with the potential to moderate in an automated fashion are FAANG, basically.
This goes to the core of 230, and the claims of monopolistic practice, and why in the end bug tech will probably be fine with regs... They can, upstarts can't.
    Remains to be litigated tho.
It looks to me like the big tech companies help each other, to sort of promote or protect each other. How to prove that in court I don't know. Of course it still has to be litigated, but Amazon's accusation is pretty clear. That Parler did not make reasonable efforts to remove those kinds of posts.

There's a list floating around the internet of some "parleys" (for those unfamiliar, they're analogous to "tweets") that Amazon used in their brief in response to Parler's request for an injunction. They allege that those parleys were not taken down even after being warned about them. Also, it looked like Amazon was saying that they've been discussing this issue with Parler for weeks, not days. So that predates the insurrection. I'll be interesting to see how this plays out. I kinda think Parler will lose.

For those of you losing your ****, fixin' ta hit reply "how dare you take big tech's side" :runaway: because I said that, it's an "is" discussion, not a "should" discussion. Personally, I suspect some of it is big tech trying to stamp out newcomers into the space, so that they can continue to control what they control now. I'd really like to see that exposed through all of this somehow. But it does not sound like Parler help themselves any.

Hell. If it was my company on the line, I'd make sure the ToU at least covers their own requirements from Amazon's ToS. I'd also be looking to hire AI experts to start development immediately on a system to ensure their compliance. I mean, it's their business on the line. For short term, I'd purpose a team to sift through the parlays for offensive language. And some tools could be developed pretty quickly to aid that. And far off planning, I'd be looking at developing an in-house platform to run Parley's services.

    Much truth spoken here!

It simply isn't possible to live the sheep life without shepherds and sheep dogs doing bad things to bad people so you can sheep your way through life.

If there is no living human being who has "standing" to challenge the crookedest election in our history, damn straight Parker is going to lose against the propaganda machine. Hell, they probably don't even have "standing" to get their day in court.
