I agree with all except the 'maybe'. I would replace it with 'definitely'.

The world sees these things. Some of this may be being said in jest, but when 2A proponents make light of resorting to violence against another human being with no provocation, it makes us all look bad.

Mine was just a general statement about all the instances of violence out there. And that just addresses one side of it. Here's what I think should happen. Everyone chill the **** out. If you feel like being violent because you see someone not wearing a mask, just stay home. If you go out, you'll see a lot of people not wearing masks. If that scares you. STAY HOME. Also, if you go to a place of business and they don't let you in because you're not wearing a mask, and that makes you feel like being violent. Go somewhere else or go home.

I'm a non wearing when I have a choice, some job sites its required. When someone says a comment to me about not having a mask on I respond its either no mask or with a mask my touretts will say things that will really upset your wife over there. Please pick one....

I'm not seeing that... current average daily new cases is 250-290 for Sweden... at peak it was 1050-1130 per day... they are down considerably from peak, roughly one fourth of the peak rate, but far from zero.

Their reported death rate is very low now, but after their political and medical leadership "stepped deep in the doodoo", they might be Cuomo'ing their numbers now.

Point about 'near zero' conceded. I had been using the information page direct from Folkhälsomyndigheten (Swedish Public Health Administration) to try and tease out what the daily rate was (with google providing translation) because it was an official source and because worldometers had not published any info on new cases in Sweden on the page listing all countries in several days (since the day before my initial post)

I will stand by the assertion that they are doing much better than most major EU players without that whole authoritarian, lock-down thing. The point is they gave up nothing in terms of health outcomes in order to save a lot in terms of economic and societal outcomes. They are effectively a post-pandemic state now

Not to put words in your mouth, but what I think you're getting at is that sooner or later, everyone ends up with Sweden COVID results... the european countries that avoided the higher Sweden-like numbers earlier by locking down: France, Spain, Germany, UK, etc, are now seeing a second wave surge that will put them into Sweden (and Italy) territory.

If your point is that the lockdowns will only be a delaying tactic... I'd say yes and no, maybe and maybe not. The lockdowns were to blunt the spike (flatten the curve, prevent a full-on epidemic curve) AND ALSO to delay the spread to give time for treatments, vaccines, etc. to be developed.

I guess I just don't buy into that nihilism. We know a LOT more about this thing now than we did in early March. We have greatly expanded testing capabilities. We know a lot more about treatments. There is still a long way to go...

Since the start of this, there has been an opinion something like, sooner or later, we will all contract this thing. My thoughts have, and are, that may very well be the case when it's all said and done... but I'll opt for being in the "later" group, if at all possible, thank you very much.

This. Because if that wasnt satire/purple, I have a hard time believing you are really that concerned for your safety. Because if you were that concerned, you would not get within 6 feet of a non mask wearing individual because since they arent wearing a mask, let alone touch them because you are risking infection by touching them and/or not following social distancing guidelines.


I love people who get up in the faces of non mask wearers to berate them. Shows how utterly devoid of reason they are. Do they think its Shrodingers virus?

Along this train of thought; in our church people are told to wear masks while entering and exiting, but can remove them when seated, which are now "islands" of chairs 6' apart. There are many who "sincerely" wear a mask and should due to risk, but 99% of them take them off when seated. Then the singing starts, and if this thing is real, the virus fills the room. This might not be the place to debate that God's presence kllls the virus. Then people put their masks back on to walk out the door. I am there for hours beforehand in the sound booth and only feel the need to put a mask on (keep in mind I wear a mask for me not others) when the singing starts. There are about 4 out of 150 people that get this. The other thing that kills me is that people stand right next to each other and pull the mask down to talk then flip it back up. My mask wearing is all about risk mitigation, that just in case, and that's not my normal M.O. but I sure wish other people would just be consistent. If they've decided to believe in masks then follow through and be smart, and consistent.

I am starting to see people wear a face shield instead of a mask.

If a loose mask allows the virus to escape what does a shield do? I guess if someone sneezed in your face it would catch more.

I bet it keeps your glasses from fogging so easily tho.
