I didn't realize you gave your word to wear a mask.

You are correct. I don’t even have to wear one if they yelled at me and demanded it like the old codger did to CM. But I gave my word and I keep my word.
This lady has a small family and they needed my help. I was glad to do it. But I sat off to one side during the service and I cheated quite a bit.

Those people that say it’s only a mask and it’s no big deal are projecting their experiences on other people. I’ll just leave it at that. It’s not not a big deal to me.
And I’ll do what I can to minimize the times and places I have to wear those stupid things.

I don't care what side of this you land on, his behavior was inappropriate.

Yeah his approach was "YOU SOB"s ARE PUTTING ME IN DANGER"......loudly.

The spouse set him straight and I smiled the "If you go there I will smack you from under your hair smile"....you know the one. My Mom had this one down tight.

    Yeah.

I read it as they requested wearing a mask.

His behavior if they requested it is the charitable and Christian route. It is also the middle ground I advocate during all of this.

If, however, one does not believe wearing a mask does anything at all and a mask was not required then why wear one at all? The answer to that could be more nuanced.

It is one thing to assert one's rights. It is another to be charitable. Which one did Christ call us to do?

Wearing a mask for 15 minutes, IF i have no health risk of doing so, even if it means going against a belief that the mask does no good in order to preserve tranquility, is the Christian example.

It sound like he gave his word to help (maybe a funeral?), and one condition of helping was to wear a mask at that time.

At least that's what I inferred.

So don't be a jackass at a funeral. :yesway:

They don't seem to realize it's just a mask now. Next it's forcible vaccination with a brand new experimental vaccine. After that, it's tagging/IDing people who have had a vaccine and creating 2 different classes of citizens.

The insidious part is this thing is predicated, like a lot of other benevolences, on the knowledge that a great many people will try to demonstrate their compassion by jumping on this particular bandwagon. The arguments against it are quickly drowned out by those comfortable in their virtue. There is no space for honest disagreement. I want this to hurry up and get over with. I want to wake up tomorrow morning and this finally be a distant nightmare. But I don’t want to force people that think they’re doing the right thing to stop wearing those masks. On the other hand, many of them aren’t so reciprocal in their positions.

These governors/mayors mandating masks this late in the game is like requiring condoms at a baby shower.

They don’t have any other tools in their tool boxes. Cases are blowing up and the people are expecting them to “do something”. They don’t know what else to do. Most people (other than whacko leftists) don’t want to put the economy back in the ditch again. So, many of them are going to go along with the “mask up” mantra.

Too bad the politics killed off hydroxychloroquin. They could be pushing a drug with a 50-something year track record of relatively benign side effects as a preventative regimen as an alternative to masking up. The effectiveness is certainly up to debate but at least there’d be a cheap alternative for folks to opt for to get the mask nazis off their backs.

Aren't we getting close to that anyway? I thought some kids couldn't go to school without a vaccination record.
