I'm lost. What did they charge him with, currency violations?
If you're going wilderness camping in Florida (he had camping gear) a machete and pickax would make sense. These would not be formidable weapons going up against armed security and Secret Service at Mar el Lago. He was arrested 4 miles from Mar el Lago.
There is either a lot more to this story indicating his intentions or he was set up.

He was detained at the first layer of security for the area around Mar-a-lago, the mainland end of the bridge across the intra-coastal. Omar was specifically referring to trump properties, even a traitorous ***** like her probably knows Trump is too hard of a target. See the stabbing rampage in Colorado to envision the damage you could do to innocent people who just happened to be around a Trump property with a machete and/or a pickaxe, and I don't care how much camping gear you have, you don't need $22k to go camping - nor do you need another car parked at PBI. It takes just a second to come up with an alternate theory, that of hiding out in the Florida wilds for a while if you're not killed in the terrorist attack. Then make your way to the airport where a car parked for days or weeks would arouse no suspicion and make your getaway

Well I know I never go camping with only $22K, so that seems suspicious. Being in Florida, it would probably be warm, so you'd have to buy ice if you had a cooler, and that's probably at least a couple of bucks a bag. You don't want to run out of ice.

Thanks for filling in the blanks. You provided more information than the story did.
You have potential in the news field, kid. How do you like the name Jimmy Olsen?

Ok, that still doesn't alleviate the confusion. The guy was still FOUR miles away. In what world is that distance considered "around" a particular property? Is that something like the Constitution-Free Zones we have around the borders? This isn't to say that the guy wasn't up to no good, but as of right now, it seems that the dude's only offense is having some sharp things, camping equipment, a car at the airport and a lot of cash. Does it mean I sympathetic to terrorists if, absent any other information, I'm left scratching my head as to why this guy was arrested? It's nit beyond being investigated, but please, someone give me a crime.

And as far as Omar, I don't get that either. Cops are calling for her to be arrested? For what? She said that Iran might target Trump's properties worldwide. Hmmm... a nation known for funding terrorists to attack adversaries they can't confront directly might target the worldwide properties of the leader of a nation they revile? Well duh. Does saying aloud make it a crime?

As to your first point, has the idea that there is intelligence on this guy that led to his detention not occurred to you? The rapidity with which they discovered the car staged at the airport tells me they knew a lot about this guy before they ever stopped him

On the second point, she was publishing a list of targets, complete with pictures, and I seem to remember lefties having a major case of the vapors about a tweet or meme of someone with what they interpreted as a gunsight superimposed over it. It may be a bit overwrought, but I already think she's a traitor so I'm OK with any rationale for her arrest. In these days of impeachment first, reasons later what does evidence have to do with anything (at least if you're a Republican)

This could have been one of those instances where the FBI finds some shlub that wants to do something (but is likely incompetent), sends in someone to help him plan and magically gets everything he needs and then swoops in and arrests him. Cue the press conference and how they are heroes. That could be why they knew about him and the car etc. etc.

I certainly hope so. Otherwise I would have to agree with Kut on this. We don't arrest people in this country because they could maybe possibly be planning to commit a crime.

An equally good theory, it certainly wouldn't surprise me if the FBI felt they could use some good press about now

Well, Kut seems to think you can impeach the highest elected official in the land because he might commit a crime. I guess that's Kutsistency

FBI, ICE and Dept. of Education are investigating Ilhan Omar apparently.

IG is considering evidence that Ilhan married a UK citizen in '09 perhaps to commit student loan fraud, or other education fraud.

Dont discount this. Some of the crazies I have known have been obsessed with blades. One carried a knife because he didnt trust himself to carry a gun because he felt he was too impulsive and would shoot somebody out of anger. Guys that carry just a fixed blade and nothing else for protection (when they arent otherwise forbidden from carrying a firearm) make me nervous.

And I've never met one personally, but Ive seen some guys like above actually think they are like a ninja with a blade and could actually pull off such an attack.

I’m sorry, but can you direct me to where I have indicated such?

I think he should have stated it "because he might have committed a crime." The way I understood your position was that you thought there was enough evidence to initiate impeachment proceedings, though I did not think you meant that Trump should be impeached because of what he might do in the future. Regardless, it seems you might like any action which strikes a blow at his supporters.
