The philosophy is total poppycock. I'm not in the mood to argue about the long-term effects of offshoring employment at slave wages only to reward companies with reduced taxation and shareholders with special tax treatment.

Great point. If companies were in such dire straits then we wouldn’t be seeing larger and larger gaps in compensation packages (and Golden parachutes) of CEO’s/upper executives and the average worker within companies. The majority of all capital saved by automation (the true killer of quality American jobs), outsourcing, tax cuts, etc. goes to the top brass and rarely makes it down to the people who truly are responsible for a company’s success. There’s nothing wrong with differences in wages but a CEO earning 300 times that of a full time employee is pretty ridiculous in most circumstances. The middle class drives the economy, not the top 1%.

One is directed R&D. The other is redistribution to shareholders and executive pay. The huge payouts to employees? Not so much.

So, the people who own the company aren't owed the tax savings. The employees are?

Oh. And how is, say, Solyndra using their morally superior R&D money now? I'm sure they've contributed some really stunning innovations to society.

    This just in:

"There is still a lot of thinking on the right that if big corporations are happy, they're going to take the money they're saving and reinvest it in American workers," Rubio told the Economist. "In fact they bought back shares, a few gave out bonuses; there's no evidence whatsoever that the money's been massively poured back into the American worker."

Or into the American economy. Rentiers don't create. Please don't insult us.

Nah, I like double. It lets me selectively modulate certain posters. When I hit the Ctrl ^ keys, I get pictures of cats looking out of the ceiling in lieu of their comments. :)

No. I don't think that. I think they're likely to put some back into their enterprises, and give some to shareholders, the owners. The purpose of employment is to do the work hired to do. The wages/salaries are a negotiation. You want more money? Convince your employer that you're worth more money. Companies don't hire people so that people can be employed. That sounds more like government work.

It turns out Michelle Obama is our "forever First Lady"......I had no idea....

    https://ntknetwork.com/michelle-obama-declares-herself-americas-forever-first-lady/

Former First Lady Michelle Obama offered herself as America’s “forever First Lady,” at a college signing day event at Temple University in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

“We have such high hopes for you. See, I am not one of those doubters. I know that you have everything it takes to succeed,” Obama said. “I know you are me, and if I can be standing here as your forever First Lady, then you can do anything you put your mind to.”
The crowd erupted into applause at this line.

That's not an argument. At least not a logical one. It's trendy though, I'll give you that.

It means that you aren't saying anything new and I'm unwilling to spend time arguing about it. You're welcome to your corporate plutocracy. Just please don't conflate America's founding principles with the brave new world seem to admire.
