Just a thought that occurred to me while I was working in the yard this evening; political commentators like to say that the Republican Party lost its way and some of its mainstream appeal when it more closely aligned itself with religious conservatives. Are we seeing the same pattern here as the Democrat Party adopts more and more social justice causes?

Yes....And like Jamil said down thread there is almost a religious quality about it...

Last part? You mean the first part. I think. INGO would collectively riot if you were banned over Salma. No worries. Not even sure why you would worry.

Government should not be picking winners and losers. There's criticism to be made when it does. And when it does attempt to pick winners and losers, and FAILS to keep up its end of the bargain, the there's even MORE criticism to be had, as it's engaged in something it should not have in the first place, and it's failure is evidence of why it should not have ever happened. That's completely consistent.

Here is a list of SOME of the loser companies obummer picked to give taxpayer money to. What they have in common is every one of them took the taxpayer money and then declared bankruptcy. This idiocy cost all of us a lot of money for nothing. And now obummer is rich.

Perhaps I'm missing the point. Is it your contention that since the above was done under the Obama administration, that we should be even more accepting of more of it now? I don't care 'who" does it, I oppose it. And since it's the current administration doing it, that's where the problem lies today. You can even site the auto bailout, I opposed that fiercely.

Seems pretty obvious to me. But Russia hasn't hacked my common sense detector yet.

I had to disconnect my detector. Went off too often here in the big mill.

I also used to have a small red light on the top of my hardhat (before LEDs), and had wiring down the sleeve and a switch in my hand.
    It was my idiot detector.
When I walked near certain bosses, I'd activate the flashy light.
    They'd ask what it was.
I'd say, oh is it going off again? It must be broken. It's my idiot detector and it wasn't going off a minute ago.
For some reason, they didn't find it funny.

Ok......and how does that compare with the permanent corporate tax cut that Congress gave out this term. Mmmmm?

Mmmmm, there is a huge, huge, huge difference. The US corporate tax rate was way too high compared to most of the world and was forcing companies to move overseas and keep money in other countries to survive. This correction will make US companies healthier and more competitive in the world market and allow them to move back or stay in the US and provide jobs and help the US economy.

The other is a lot of foolhardy gifts to undeserving companies that took the money and bellied up. Most of these were huge contributors to the left. It was completely predictable what happened, but yet it happened over and over and over. Makes one wonder what was really going on.

The philosophy is total poppycock. I'm not in the mood to argue about the long-term effects of offshoring employment at slave wages only to reward companies with reduced taxation and shareholders with special tax treatment.

One is directed R&D. The other is redistribution to shareholders and executive pay. The huge payouts to employees? Not so much.

"directed R&D" Oh, that is funny! So that is what you spin it as when a sham company receives a ton of money from the government and then declares bankruptcy so they never develop anything. Funny terminology.

The left wants to tax the crap out of American business and then blame them when they have to move to survive. That is like economic war on America. Maybe that is their long-term plan.
