You are 100% correct. There is an amazing amount of posing, grandstanding, and CYA going on in this case. It's not even a 1st. Degree murder case. These are processed routinely in 2 days or less. Anything past 3 days would be very rare. Everyone involved has their own agenda and own reason for wanting it to last as long as possible.
