I hear tell that there is a new Custom 1911 builder setting up shop in Fort Wayne. A guy came into my LGS and said he has been delivering blocks of steel to a place in an industrial park out north. He said what area but for some reason it doesnt feel right blurting out a probable location yet (hint: near SniperCo). The man said they are cranking out custom 1911s but there gonna be in the high premium price area. you know Ed Brown or Nighthawk range. Anybody hear anything similar or have details? I may be interested in a custom gun after all. Gotta support the local economy you know :D. If its true Im excited to hear more about them and see the options. I wonder if I could watch it be built? I wonder If I can get grips with the INGO logo (think Colt medallion) and the rest of the grip to look like Bacon.:bacondance::pimp: It would be cool to own a gun that was made in your home area. I dont live in Fort Wayne but Im close enough.

It is not a rumor, we have two in stock right now. They are made by SWS-Trimac Inc. They are named after the engineer and shop foreman from what I understand. The name is Schroeder Bauman American Defender. These pistols are beautiful and start out at $1399.99, so come on into Sniper Company and get a 1911 with Made In Ft. Wayne, IN engraved on it. We have a demo we will be shooting and posting data regarding accuracy.

That looks frighteningly similar to the PT1911

Don't they all look alike? If it didn't I think Jet Girl would be in here telling us it wasn't really a 1911. But then I like the Glock/Ford Model T mentality, so they all look alike to me.

They need to be seen and held. They speak for themselves, the tolerances are tight and they are impressive. I love my Sig Scorpion 1911 but I love that these are local. They offer several models including machined in finger grooves and dragon scales etc.

Yea, I'm with you guys... looks like a churched up PT1911.

What can this Ft Wayne 1911 for me that a Nighthawk can't? Do they come with railed versions? YEA, I SAID IT.

If they don't do well and fold up shop in a few years, I think it would be very hard to sell this and get half your money back.

Are the frames and slides cast or forged? Looks pretty decent IMHO, and that finish almost looks like a brushed hard chrome.

I don't like the rough serrations on the slide, but I am sure it's optional (I would hope)

Waiting for more info and if there will be a Commander size model or Officers model frame but I'm always interested in supporting a local business.

I handled/fondled one at Sniper Co. last time I was in there. It is a really nice looking gun. It is a lot tighter frame to slide fit than a PT1911. Everything is fitted smoothly. I have looked at both guns and would pick this one over the PT even with the price difference. I liked that the serrations were different than most 1911. Might be a future purchase for sure. Love supporting local shops & manufacturers.

Great to see things like this taking place so close. I know I don't speak for everyone, but I would pay a premium to keep the business in Indiana. Wonderful news..............

I would like to know more about them. Is there a web site or other source of information?

Very crisp clean trigger. Haven't gotten the chance to shoot it yet. I figured I'd let Shaun and Andrew take it out first. More worried about Andrew getting upset! Tight fit and SMOOTH. Good feel and weight. According to the rep there are different options for slide serrations.
