A family driving from Arizona to California was stopped at a roadblock and told to show the government agents the contents of their lunch. The government expects you to stop and prove to them that you aren't carrying fruit inside your vehicle.

Fortunately the driver stood up for his rights and did not capitulate to the illegal ransacking of his lunchbox and his liberty. :patriot:

    lulz. Fruit Nazis.

I recently had experience with 2 USBP checkpoints, at both of which the agents were courteous and basic with their questions. License, rental agreement for documentation, then simply asked citizenship. Answer American, and we were off.

I'd courteously be giving them a lot of the ol' "Am I being detained?" and "Am I legally required to produce ID?"

Seriously, these yahoos creating roadblocks and demanding my papers is a slap in the face to every WW2 vet. We supposedly defeated Nazism. My papers ain't coming out unless there is Probable Cause and legal justification. I certainly wouldn't be showing them my stash of oranges underneath my driver's seat.
