Have to travel to DC next week for work. To save money, four of us are driving out in a company van. 12 hours one way. (10 hours driving and two hours stuck in beltway traffic). Because it is DC and a company van, no guns allowed. Not even pepper spray. I feel so defenseless.

Do you have a local karate or other martial arts club nearby? Maybe you could recruit some bodyguards!

We have a couple of ninja cats. That might work. If we get carjacked, we can throw an angry cat or two at them.

Got a new work laptop.

My old one would over heat and lock up. And after every win update I'd have to spend an hour rebooting it to get it to boot properly.


My new one doesn't over heat, it's much nicer but, it has a hard time with my two 30" monitors and now I have to turn on my headset every time I use it whereas on my old laptop it would turn on when I picked it up off the cradle.

Big time. I try to avoid mentioning it now bc I will still make time for the right person and I have half the year off bc of the schedule + PTO.

But you say night shift and ppl are weirdes out

It was a while ago (before lumber went sideways). It took forever for the installation date because they were booked out. I can't even imagine what that would cost nowadays. The platform is over 6' high.

THATS quite appropriate in the first wold problems thread. Ours is still sitting in the yard. Long unused. I have to have straight lines. I curse that damn thing every time I mow.
