Quite a few of my Close friends have said Many times: "When the SHTF, I'm coming to your house!" There may some "Admission Charges" involved. lol
Very Concerned with the way things are going in my Beloved USA. I could be Wrong, but it's Doubtful too much Crap will go down before I'm Called Home, but I worry about my Children & Grandchildern (if/when that happens). Apologies for straying off topic!

Thanks for all the replies thus far.

I think the "most likely" event(s) would not be nuclear, but smaller scale on things like govt buildings/facilities (DC), military bases, economic, infrastructure (grid) communications.

Crazy I know but I have thought for a while now I don't think I would want to live in Alaska, at some point Russia may want it back.

As far as night vision/thermal, rifle optic, handheld or wearable?

I would think that a rifle optic would be most versatile if someone could only get one.
This will need to be its own thread lol

I have a cheaper nv scope for predator hunting…… I would NOT choose a mounted optic as my one piece of “see in the dark” equipment

In all seriousness, one should be prepping pretty hardcore at this point:

Water, food, medical/medicines, alternative power/cooking, offgrid sanitation, defensive capabilities, two-way radio communications, Intel gathering AND community. Plans should be made for bugging out and bugging in.

Fuel storage (enough to last a while) is the main problem. Everything else done.

For those looking to move in when SHTF:
    Skills? Supplies?
No? Willing to dig and stand watch a lot?
Still no? Here's a can of peaches and a knife. Now shove off, and don't tell anyone where you got them.

And I'd rather have HoHos than Twinkies.
