To answer your initial question I think I need to define riot. Per your subject line you stated "what will you do when the riot reaches your neighborhood". Merriam-Webster defines riot as a violent public disorder. Your second line described something closer to an organized protest (i.e. non-violent).

I think ultimately, all posturing aside, one must decide well in advance as to their tactics for peace...and perhaps do a little research on mob mentality. I agree where the posters have said that you must meet force with force. My best advice is to get to know your neighbors. If all of your neighbors are standing on their front porch in solidarity there is far less of a temptation for an unruly crowd to start trouble; traditionally that is held for the weak or those unable to defend themselves. If you show weakness you are the best target. Take your mind back in time to the place where you were in the most fear you've ever known, figure out how to manage that and work with the human response to fear and channel that into clarity and purpose. Decide today where your battle line is, find out which neighbors are going to partner with you in that purpose, and have a plan. In all likeliness you will never need that plan, but you will be prepared nonetheless. Perhaps that will bring you some peace during this upheaval.

The extreme left has become the mainstream democratic party. Medicare for illegals, open borders, gun confiscation, erasure of history, dissolution of culture, etc.

You may think they're a minority, but evidence continues to gather that they actually are not a minority, it's just that they'll vote to have someone else do these actions to you rather than do it themselves. That's the only difference between antifa and democrats.

If that becomes the law of the land, and people reject it... Do you really think we can simply coexist and tolerate their existence when they call us evil and nazis? No, they'll ratchet up as far as is necessary, up to and including war, to get their way. It's a revenge culture that does not believe in the constitution, they see the constitution as a document that created white supremacy.

You are correct. A modern day American Revolution will not be fought or won like those of past. It will be a swing in majority mindset and followed by legislation. The revolution will be done quietly, and with ink. The polls are where we will see if this current wave of disruption has any true significance.

It will all be speculation until we see the response at the polls this Nov. Maybe you're right, and I'm wrong. Maybe all these young people with socialistic ideologies will forget to show up on election day like they seem to do.

Well said, young lady. Great advice.

If I see fire of any kind, I would be in fear of my life and my wife's. You are going to get shot.

We have seen a couple situations where a citizen has opened fire on these people They scatter and run instantly. These are not brave, committed troops.

If the time ever arrives when rioters (I call them domestic terrorists) filter their way down to rural Indiana towns like mine (population 7000) with intentions of burning , looting and taking over portions of town I would think that government no longer functions and is replaced by lawlessness across the land . Kind of already taking place , look at Seattle and Minneapolis. I don't have a problem defending myself against those that think they have the right to destroy neighborhoods.

Are the numbers really there or is media propping them up with unjustified attention?

This week's Michiana's news stories were the Mishawaka Christopher Columbus statue protest attend by what appeared to be less than 10 and the Goshen Martins Grocery BLM face mask protest attended by less than five protesters. Both stories apparently warranted video reporting in the news?

The OP has left the room.

    He wasn't treated very nicely.

Well 2-A when you come in stirring up the masses I will have to settle him down. I was not the only one that saw this.

People we are a forum that has a massive amount of visitation daily. We have to keep up with how we look to the world.

We also have to stay inside the lines we have established. You should know this.

And finally, I am tired. These last few weeks have been rough.

Nothing personal on the op. I have many of the same misgivings as he does. We have been out front for hours when these morons were "Protesting" (:lmfao:) mere blocks from my compound.
How we express these issues is what we need to look at.

    Enjoy the day peoples.

The smartest choice of your in a questionable zone.
    1. Have a plan
    2. Pack out things that cannot be replaced to a temp storage facility out of the way.
    3. Have a credit card ready to check into a hotel if you must bug out.
    4. Share the plan with your family. Have back up 2 ways.

At this point of you're in an urban area that is at risk you've had months of warning. We were talking about looting back in April when shutdowns started.
The riots haven't really burnt down residential areas.
The legal burden of having to prove your side of a shooting will probably disarm you as you liquidate guns to pay for courtroom firepower.
Your reputation may never recover. Social media justice is swift, permanent, and unfair. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on lawyers to rebuild your reputation.

Just have a plan and leave. You may win a battle but you will likely lose the war.

    This!

I think at this point the best option is to leave. Having a family that depends on you not just today but many tomorrow's will change a person. Sure, I could post up and defend mine against the best of them, and there were times in my life when I probably would have without second thought, but if you do this in these days you lose. Your "stand" might make you a hero in some eyes, especially in these parts, but you'll be more of a martyr than a hero in real life - YOUR life as you knew it would be over.

If this keeps escalating into some sort of revolution of the left, I'm afraid we will see a breakdown in society at some point. Then, and only then would any force necessary be an appropriate response to defend what's yours unless there is a very clear and obvious threat to your or your families lives. A looting, rioting mob doesn't fit that threat level in the eyes of some that will prosecute you, in more ways than one.

    All IMHO, of course.

@churchmouse, I hope you can see that I'm not trying to start trouble. I think I may have done the opposite here. Maybe at least one member will read this thread and then give it a little more thought than the easy "I'll take them all out" frame of mind. It's much much more complicated than that whether we like it or not.

Everything I have and have worked for is here on this little plot of ground. I'm not much for chest thumping and I have no dreams of being a badass but I will not stand idly by and watch it be taken from my family nor will I flee and allow it to be destroyed or stolen. I sincerely pray it never comes down to it but I'm too old to run and I won't be terrorized by petulant dip****s. I'll leave them alone provided they do the same. Liberal woke prosecutors and social justice be damned, I worked in LE for almost 20 years and never had a complaint, lawsuit or accusation of any kind and certainly not race related.

Right is right and no one has the right to destroy what I've spent my lifetime building. I'll also not be going to jail for defending it.

    Leave people alone.
If it aint yours, don't touch it.
    You are not special.

Pretty simple stuff, seems as though libs and under 30's can't figure this stuff out.
And that might prove fatal for some.

    Goody.

I wonder how well shooting a person throwing Molotov Cocktail with Dragons Breath would go over in court. Fight fire with fire, literally.
