the orange stain & finish on my Savinelli was a bit sloppy and started to bother me - so I stripped and refinished it simply with oil. here’s some after photos.
first smoke in it was Mac Baren Old Dark Fired which was a mistake in a king size bowl, lol
You're the second person to ask me that.
I have a few ideas in my head but have not tried to make any of them yet. Perhaps this weekend I'll see what I can come up with.
I went down to our local tobacco shop...it's been around awhile...It was already 30 years old when my g g g grandfather bought his tobacco there after the war with the southern states...1833 is when they opened iirc....
I bought a German briar that (unfortunately) took a 9mm filter...I don't smoke with filters but he did dig around and find me an adapter...it's marked "db" on the stem and "German bruyer" on the shank...a very cool pipe...I picked up 5 ounces of Hoosier blend, a blend they have carried (at least) since I was in high school...I dropped off a huge Italian pipe I picked up for next to nothing with a busted stem they are going to send to Nashville to be restored for me...$32 including shipping...it's a huge bowl and is really clean...looks all 70s Italian lol....they have some pipes in the display case that look 20 years old and I have got my eye on a poker with a sterling fittings and beautiful grain....
pipes are more fun than my cigs I am finding.....
Found a pic online of my pipe...or close to it...I didn't get no cool box lol....now this is funny...I click on the image and it says this pipe has been discontinued for years lol.....they have got some major "new old stock" down there....
