It is such a different world now. I was not even nine years old yet when he'd finished. I know that in my community, both Carter and Reagan were respected and criticized. George Bush was pretty much unanimously disliked. I'm sure perceptions were different everywhere.

The leftists control a party that is much different than it was 30 years ago. Same guys - but stronger, smarter, and much better funded than ever.

Their intentions are pure fricken evil - don't get me wrong - I despise every single one of them, but they are organized with a clear (and hidden) vision for the future. While the other side keeps fighting over power internally, the left has pretty much already chosen its figureheads.

If things progress the way they are going (downward), I expect Hillary to successfully run for 2016. It looks to me as if she already is campaigning in an unofficial sense.

So what economic policies was Carter responsible for, anyway? Did he nominate the wrong Federal Reserve chairman or what?

America was in a slump for much of the 70's. Carter was a good man but a dull president. Reagan was a cockeyed optimist that got America to believe in itself again.

Yep. They had to invent a scale to quantify what a sh!tty leader he was.

He almost scored the socialist triple-double -- double-digit inflation, double-digit interest rates, and double-digit unemployment (came just a couple percentage points short on that last one). Barry will do it though... He got game.

Can't think of anything positive he accomplished.

Much as I dislike Carter, and most of what he stands for, I must give credit where credit is due.

Jimmy Carter did accomplish one positive thing that I can recall, though I don't think it was while he was in office.

Mr. Carter started the "Habitat for Humanity" program.
I think it has since been bastardized to a largely unacceptable program, but the basic program that he started was a good program.

When politics gets involved, there is almost NEVER a "winner".

I was on Active Duty when Carter took office. The only thing he ever did that I approved of (grudgingly) was taking responsibility for the failure of the hostage rescue mission, instead of trying to pin it on the military.

His starting the Habitat for Humanity program, in my opinion, is far outweighed by his persistent douche-baggery in injecting himself unwanted into politics after he left office. And just to be fair, I wasn't too happy with Nixon doing the same thing, either.

Carter was a hapless buffoon. Amazes me that he was once an officer on a nuclear sub. IMO, aside from a terrible economy his worst legacy is how he mishandled the Iranian hostage thing. Can't think of anything positive he accomplished.

I have the one positive thing Carter accomplished: He lost his second election!

He got his brother's "Billy Beer" brewing company the free advertising it needed. I guess that was positive. I can't remember though. Was that beer actually brewed or just boiled in a pot?

What was the difference between Carter and Ted Kennedy in the 1980 primary?

    Carter only crashed an economy.

What's the difference between Jesus and Obama?

Jesus could put a good cabinet together.

I think this was the Billy Beer "brewing" process...

I can't speak with authority given that 1. I don't drink, and 2. Clinton was in office when I hit 21, but I have heard that Billy Beer would have needed improvement to get up to terrible.
