Unlike the upstanding employees at any of the other burger joints?
Well, I’m talking a few decades ago. The mcdonalds employees were either old ladies or high school kids, and oh my god, going to steak and shake back then was guaranteed great food and great service! You couldn’t pay me to eat at the local steak and shake now, last time I was in there, we turned around and walked out before the door even closed.

Seems counterintuitive. Even the Taco Bell I normally go to that is right next door to the crack motel doesn't seem to employ crackheads. I don't think they really have any interest in working. Well, unless "working" includes panhandling at the intersections.
31 and thompson? Use to go there for lunch all the time when I had that craptasic IT job just a tad south in those ugly brown offices.

There is two steak and shakes if Lafayette. The one on the east side by meijer is still pretty decent. The other one not so much. I call it the steak and shank.

I miss their good quality burgers.
Back before Covid, they had the absolute BEST burgers. On par with a sit down joint like Max and Ermas. Tasted exactly like they were cooked on a charcoal grill. Juicy, with just a little charring around the edges. Made BK burgers look puny.
Now its like they microwave the burgers. :puke:
