The National Counter-Terrorism Center (NCTC) now has the power to troll through databases of "records" on innocent Americans, looking for non-criminal behavior patterns that they can use to create new terror suspects. This seems to be new ground for the agency (on the record, anyways).

U.S. Terror Agency To Tap Citizen Files - Yahoo! Finance
The rules now allow the little-known National Counterterrorism Center to examine the government files of U.S. citizens for possible criminal behavior, even if there is no reason to suspect them. That is a departure from past practice, which barred the agency from storing information about ordinary Americans unless a person was a terror suspect or related to an investigation.

Now, NCTC can copy entire government databases—flight records, casino-employee lists, the names of Americans hosting foreign-exchange students and many others. The agency has new authority to keep data about innocent U.S. citizens for up to five years, and to analyze it for suspicious patterns of behavior. Previously, both were prohibited.

The changes also allow databases of U.S. civilian information to be given to foreign governments for analysis of their own. In effect, U.S. and foreign governments would be using the information to look for clues that people might commit future crimes.

"It's breathtaking" in its scope, said a former senior administration official familiar with the White House debate.

Why am I not surprised? It amazes me that there are so many people around us who would dismiss the notion that we are indeed in a police state. Nice fixtures, expensive and comfortable furniture, and good food don't make a prison any less a prison. Likewise, just because we still have a thin veneer of freedom so long as we don't stray outside the lines marked on the pavement, it is just as confining as prison walls.

This photograph is so telling on how vain our government is... they blow through our money like water with fancy oval shaped metal desks that have motorized rising computer monitors, custom painted walls, oval LED track lighting, leather desk chairs, fancy scrolling led world time clocks that run to show them what time it is in Los Angeles and Denver as well as 10 people getting paid to stand around doing nothing in the adjoining room...

    Tax cuts!!! For what?

"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."

Is that the agency Jack Bauer worked for? They're pretty BA, and they only torture the bad guys, so I'm pretty much ok with it.

Don't forget the HD projector hanging from the ceiling.

Personally, I like the blue mood lighting around the bottom of the desk the best.

Crossing the line into the other side
    Emerging as prisoners
To the emptiness of time ...

    Plunging into a new found
    Age of advanced observeillance
    A worldwide, foolproof cage

Privacy and intimacy as we know it
    Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew ...

Note: Even studio recordings do not come through well on youtube. If you have proper equalization capability on a suitable sound system, boost frequencies from 0 to 60Hz (up to 100), pull back or flatten between 125Hz and 1kHz, and boost 2-4kHz and higher as determined for high end (approx.)

This is just disgusting...Pre-crime??? Whats next? If only the media cared about this more than gun control and got the word out to people maybe just maybe people would begin to have their eyes opened. What in the hell ever happened to freedom?

Yeah, its fiction. But not by a whole bunch.

1984 was fiction when written...seems true to life these days...

Smoke and mirrors friend, smoke and mirrors. The lamestream media is as, or more, controlled here than it is in China or Russia...its just a "private" entity doing the controlling.

It amazed me how quickly Americans gave up their rights after 911. They were so quick to sign acts such as the PATRIOT Act and others that could infringe on our liberties just for the sake of "combating terrorism."

How do you define "terrorism?" The government has a very broad and vague definition of it. I love my country, but its a shame to see a complete disregard for the Constitution.
