I fly enough for work and see the same security hole at every airport I pass through. I talked to the TSA about the security flaw at every airport. They listened and said that it was not possible to happen that way.

The flaw exists and I am positive I could get a handgun with a three inch barrel or less on to any plane any time and any day of the week. I'm not talking checked baggage but carry on baggage.

I'd post the flaw, but I don't want to help the bad guys. I bet if you had 20 minutes to watch the process at the TSA screening you would discover the flaw.

it is only a matter of time before it is tested and a bad guy gets a gun on a plane.

No surprise at all. I remember a few years back a TSA employee and member on here posted about allowing family past a certain point for some reason, maybe visiting/lunch. After reading that I'll never take them seriously.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but also don't believe what you see is all there is.

I'd email them what you think would work, and then you've done your part. Talking to the working level guys probably isn't going to get it the attention it deserves.

The whole process is about making ignorant people feel better. Its an illusion of security.

I am more worried about the "security" of the ramp and who is allowed access to the plane, and how rigorously they are checked each time they enter the secure areas, than I am with what some clown can sneak through security. Since 9/11 the ones who have boarded as passengers and pulled some stunt have had their asses handed to them by the other passengers. If some "luggage handler" loads a bag full of semtex onto plane with the regular luggage, there's not much the pax can do about that.

I talked with someone in Virginia or Dc and explained the weakness in detail. I've done my part. If you are bold you can get a gun or any weapon past them with a smile. As part of my job I do motion studies and hazard analysis and this is a serious security flaw. I was aware of the weakness several years ago and it remains unchanged.

Heck, just go with a kid in a stroller... I know a lot of people who call it security theater, for the most part it would seem its there to make people feel safe.

On a side note, people forget to take guns out of briefcases and have accidents (not trying to sneak a gun through security) all of the time! Over 2,000 last yeah (6 per day).

    Could be anywhere
I thought this thread was going to be about thermite.

The actual mission of TSA seems to be more in line with making folks submit to unreasonable searches in the name of 'safety', no actual safety being involved.

I used to deliver to the airport in a semi every few days. Some of it went to the business and some went to the airport itself. While as a stop on my route for year or so I realized a few things through watching and talking to some people. While the airport terminal has its own dock doors now you can't access the tarmac from it. Though when I delivered to FedEx I would have to work my way to the back of the terminal. Doing this meant driving right next to the planes and often stoping to let them go past. The only escort I ever had was a contractor driving a tug that often got 50 yards ahead of me. I even made a wrong turn because the escort got to far ahead when I had to stop and let a plane go, he never even realized it until he got to where we were going and I wasn't there.

To get into the terminal dock and to the business that require you to drive on the tarmac all you have to do is open the hood, open the trailer, and let them peek into tractor. Multiple times I have asked if the person even knew what they were looking at and they would respond "no". Of course my follow up question was "then how do you know what to look for?" The response was typically "they were trained to look for shiny, new, or out of place objects or parts." They never once climbed into the trailer, the farthest they would get into the tractor would be the top step.

Needless to say it would be easy to do something, it is what first showed me that it was all a show.
