I understand rotation and do it as a matter of daily life with my food preps as well as my current meds. My question is more aligned to a situation where you have no more "incoming" meds to rotate. All the ones that I get have a 1 year "discard by date" on them. If the SHTF and the supply chain is destroyed, how long would they stay potent after the discard date? A month, 3 months, 6 months, a year? What would be their rate of effectiveness during that time? That is my main concern with this post.

And I appreciate the input thus far.
    Keep it coming.

Well I wasn't drinking bourbon when I was a kid so that doesn't hold water.

The real bitch is. If I give up soda. Headaches like crazy all the time. Start drinking soda. Very few headaches.
I have a family member and a friend that used to get head pounding headaches a few times a month.
Both have found loads of relief with getting Botox shots, I think in the back of the neck? every few months.
one of my sons carries a few Goody's Headache Powder in his wallet for those times.

I read this recently that with the US being 5% of the world population, they use 50% of the prescription drugs.

Outside of necessities, there's a ton of money to be made and other drugs are marketed as necessities through testing. This fact should be glaringly apparent the last 4 years.

    Statins are one.

Just a thought but you could investigate how long the U.S. military has kept meds in storage for long term.

I don't take prescription meds, but I always have lots and lots of acetaminophen on hand bc I love that headache life.

Everyone thinks the headaches are massive head trauma related but Ive had them like crazy since I was a kid....not sure why I added that part but bourbon makes me overly verbose.
Had a friend get relief from migraines, vertigo, and visual blackouts from physical therapy. When he moved his head and neck the wrong muscles were firing, usually using smaller muscles for smaller movements to do the big work put them under tremendous strain and the pain was manifest as headache and the others listed above.

He had to work very hard to find a specialist in this type of treatment, went to a doctor in another state…

    Caffeine maybe?

Yep. Caffeine withdrawal. Especially if you drink a LOT of it. By the end of the 2nd week caffeine free, headaches should be gone.

I guess I should say a prayer and count my lucky stars that I've been able to dodge the drug industry? Maybe that will be the end of me early, or maybe I'll outlive others?

We continually hear about medical practice being mostly drug and surgery pushers these days.

Last time I gave up soda I switched to unsweetened black tea. I would drink about a pitcher a day. Still several headaches. I was off soda for 7 years.

I’ve been struggling with my damn insurance to get a 30 day script filled with 30 actual pills. A year? Ha! They’ve made it impossible for people to not pay a fortune for their prescriptions
