I don't get what their end game is in this, to have the other nations who so far have been resisting escorting their shipping through the PG join in the US effort so as to protect their own shipping? Seems counter-productive and a good way to end up with a shooting war. How many British warships would it take to sink their whole navy? I'd say no more than 2 or 3. Did people forget The Falklands already?

    Could be anywhere
This latest claim is an odd one. They have not released the name or nationality of the ship and no one claims to be missing one.

I don't think the government type people or the imams themselves are calling the shots here. I think this whole operation of tanker piracy has gotten away from them and now it's just running on it's own. They will go along because they perceive it's popular while they try to re-establish control.

That didn't take long. Gibraltar to release the tanker.

So, in a country that respects the rule of law and due process (well, mostly) the private property will be released.

I wonder if the tankers held by Iran will be released promptly.

So, got this link from Drudge:

    th
It is a fascinating article. A couple of the more interestinger things:
    - Iran appears to be combining training drills with operations. That is, there are terrorists hiding out there that they are looking for (that's actually true, for them - they had a military unit attacked recently), but they are also going to be doing traditional "war game" type stuff. That seems risky from a logistical perspective, but hey - from the youtube vids, I can tell they their special operations forces are uber-awesome l33t operators that can do cartwheels.

    - They've "indigenized" the Russian S-300. I guess that's a euphemism for reverse-engineered.

NPR's Steve Inskeep is in Iran right now. I didn't hear much of the reporting, but just a handful of interviews from common folks complaining about their own leader.

Steve was a couple years ahead of me in high school. I've listened to him at NPR, and while he's probably drifted left in his politics, I think he does a good job of reporting and commenting - and distinguishing between the 2.

He always did seem like a guy who could get people to open up.

I've been listening to his pieces from Iran. Maybe I'm just imagining things, but the general tone of everything I've heard seems to be; Iran good, USA(Trump) bad.:dunno:

At least this morning it wasn't that way.

Maybe the tone is, "Iran isn't as bad as you think, and not everyone is shouting 'Death to America'."
