5 feet outside living room window. Not rabbit. Duck ? A pair of Mallards were walking up the shore from water yesterday basically headed this way. It was not there yesterday. Dogs spent 20 minutes sniffing around it this afternoon. I will have to destroy it unfortunately, otherwise dogs will.
What nest?
Killdeer don’t use mud or grass- they lay eggs directly on the stones.Likely a killdeer.
They like nesting in rocks.
Search killdeer nest and look at the images. Seems like a fit.
After it lays eggs look forward to seeing a bird with a broken wing...lots lol.
Sounds lazy to me.Killdeer don’t use mud or grass- they lay eggs directly on the stones.
Barn Swallow.Something tries to build a mud nest in my covered patio every year. Really made a mess this year.
The eggs are spotted and they blend in with the rocks.Sounds lazy to me.
Then again, these are the same birds that will run away from the nest to distract you away from it. But they wont fly unless absolutely necessary.
Or a fly catcherBarn Swallow.
Never seen a fly catcher nest. But I know barn swallows will muck up any available ledge.Or a fly catcher
