5 feet outside living room window. Not rabbit. Duck ? A pair of Mallards were walking up the shore from water yesterday basically headed this way. It was not there yesterday. Dogs spent 20 minutes sniffing around it this afternoon. I will have to destroy it unfortunately, otherwise dogs will.

Tiger-striped Indiana platypus, definitely. You know how endangered those are, so your property is now designated as a breeding ground with extreme use restrictions!

It is a dinosaur nest.. it ate the ducks. Better watch out out!!

They like nesting in rocks.
Search killdeer nest and look at the images. Seems like a fit.
After it lays eggs look forward to seeing a bird with a broken wing...lots lol.

Something tries to build a mud nest in my covered patio every year. Really made a mess this year.

Killdeer don’t use mud or grass- they lay eggs directly on the stones.

Sounds lazy to me.

Then again, these are the same birds that will run away from the nest to distract you away from it. But they wont fly unless absolutely necessary.

The eggs are spotted and they blend in with the rocks.

They last three years I have added the cardboard around the light to try and keep them from building their nest there and keep the porch cleaner. They then move to the downspout a couple feet over.

Looks to me like the nest made by the South American staring toad of southern Sri Lanka.
