Glad I'm not the only to "upgrade" for colder carry. I also switch from IWB to a shoulder holster so I don't have to dig through as many layers too.

after this article came out, how could you not upgrade in winter time

Okay, okay. I know the story was later debunked but i still took great enjoyment out of it at the time.

I need to get the shoulder holster out. I usually reserve it for road trips but it might help with some back issues I’ve been having
It certainly helps, moves the weight to the shoulders which are able to better handle it.
Also it great while driving too, like you've pointed out, way easier to draw.

I think the only shoulder holster i have is for a 1911.
Depending on your shoulder holster, might not need to get a whole new rig. I know with the Galco, you can swap holsters and everything else stays the same. Obviously the mag size might mean you need to either swap that too, or just get another at that point.
I have one Glock and one Sig shoulder holster, I need one for my railed 1911.

I stopped down at USDS today and picked up 5 P229-1 9mm mags for my Elite. They had a bunch of used, but unused mags for $25. I also picked up a Kydex OWB holster for the P229. I’ve never owned a Kydex holster before and I have to say, this thing is about as comfortable as any holster I’ve used before. The P229 clicks in and is held well but still easy to draw. The thing also sits nice and close to my side. Not a bad deal for $29. Oh, it came with a mag holster too.

I installed a GrayGuns SRT in my .40 P226 tonight. I'll have to compare that to the Sig SRT in another gun at the range but so far, it feels really good in dry fire. Other than some grips, this may be the only mod the gun needed.

I ordered 8 used P229. 40 mags from a company that I had not ordered from before. They have used mags for $19 and ver used mags for $9 so I ordered 4 of each. New Sig mags are running $50 for the .40 12 rounders.

Fingers crossed that they are a good company to do business with. The company is AB Prototype.

I was at the LGS this week and he showed me a new model Canik that they had just received. The reset must have been the shortest I have ever seen in my life. I mean, I barely moved my finger forward and the trigger reset. I am not sure if that would cause any issues, but it definitely felt cool.
Keep in mind this is a striker fired gun, it had a decoder on the top of the slide, lie a squarish button. So what is up with that? If you decock and carry, you have to jack the slide, throwing out a live round, to get it ready to fire...

When decocked, it doesn't allow a "proper" double action pull a la Walther P99?

That would be a deal breaker for me. I don't like 'Dead trigger at the touch of a button' functionality. I like Caniks in general but not one that can be disabled that easily

Today's Sig porn. This is what's on the hip today. It's a P229 Elite with a legacy .357 Sig slide.

The shorter reset I have on a handgun is on a stock S&W 4006 TSW CHP gun. Like the Canik described above, there's very little movement needed for reset.

    No. Dead trigger
I'm not trying to argue (or dirty up the Sig thread with Canik talk), but are you sure? [Edit: It appears there's a single-action version and a double-action version of this. Thanks for the additional info B&G.]
From the site, the TP9DA (assuming it's the same model) has a decocker for a longer pull but not a dead trigger:
The TP9DA was designed to give shooters the ability to carry a double-action/single-action style trigger in a modern polymer frame. The user-friendly decocker system enables users to carry the TP9DA with an extended first trigger pull, similar to traditional hammer-fired pistols.
I didn't watch the YouTube video on that page.

Again, I've never handled one and I'm not sure if it's even the exact model you handled. A dead trigger would be utterly useless as an anti-stress feature IMO (what if one is unable to rack the slide under duress).

Did it look like this? This things trigger is on par with the Timney trigger for G****, just a tad heavier. Absolutely impressive.

I think you need to look at the TP9SA. The TP9DA is similar to the P99AS- decocker for long pull first shot.

    YMMV.

Thank you! Clearly I'm not very familiar with the Canik lineup. It appears from this quick review that the purpose is allow the disassembly without puling the trigger. There's a YouTube link in there regarding accidental decocking (I didn't watch it). I don't get the point, but I guess if it were a person's first firearm, it might make sense to that person.
