I let my dog sniff everything, seems to wear her out more. But sometimes she does stay in one spot quite a while

Yeah and I want to keep on the path, I don't want him taking a **** on someone's grave.
Since it is wooded up there, there are a lot of twigs that he fights to get a hold of.

It sure seems like it. I may have to get him chew stick to march around with, see if that takes his attention from the twigs.

My neighbor cut a couple 2.5"-3"×24"-30" branches for Gunner. They are his favorite toys.
They're kinda heavy but he runs up and down the hills with them like they're nothing. Pretty comical to watch actually.
