You do not need public schools for your kids to be socially acceptable. That is kinda like saying if your kids do not go to preschool they will be socially awkward and way behind the other kids.

Correct. When home schooling it is absolutely a necessity to have extracurricular activities such as babe ruth little league, scouting, Jobs Daughters, etc to supplement the social aspect of life. My biggest reason for wanting to home school my children is of the belief system in nature. My wife and myself have a core set of conservative beliefs that we wish to share with and pass down through our children. We do not wish for the liberal socialist agenda that is found from the top to the bottom of public schools to be impressed upon our children. It is seen in textbooks, work books, liberally educated (indoctrinated) teachers, the agendas the teachers union puts forth in place of a curriculum, etc... It can be seen in answers that are correct being marked wrong or any number of hidden ways such as merely the way the text is arranged in a book. I do not want my children taught to be conformist, I want them to question everything especially authority.

Here is an example of the socialist propaganda found in a first grade work book:
"June and Jane look the same. Many times, they think the same, too. But this is not one of those days.
Today, June wants to run at the track. Jane wants to ride bikes. The girls do not have time to do both things!
"Let's run today," June tells Jane.
"We can ride our bikes soon."
"No!" calls Jane. "Let's ride today and run some other time."
"No!" yells Jane. "I want to run!"
"I know what we can do," Jane tells June. "I can ride and you can run near me."
June thinks that is a good plan.

#1. What is the problem at the beginning of the story?
    A. June and Jane look the same.........(this is what my daughter selected based on OUR teachings)
    B. June and Jane both have bikes.
    C. June and Jane do not want to do the same thing......(this is the answer expected, but the way we work, this is not a problem)

Now let's look at the not so obvious error that I noticed when typing this and not before.
"June and Jane look the same. Many times, they think the same, too. But this is not one of those days.

The wrong name is used in one of the sentences. The second highlighted name should be "June". This is the crap they are using to teach my 6yo daughter, every day I look at her school work and find at least one more example of both issues that I've mentioned and I'm uneducated mind you. Yet the school board that selects the books doesn't notice, the teachers don't notice, etc....I even wonder if maybe I'm not the first PARENT to notice. The teachers don't even seem to look, they just mark what their teachers copy of the book says to mark and move on.....Let's also try to remember that the Muslim Brotherhood owns most of the publishing companies that provide these textbooks!

My wife has been teaching elementary school for 18 yrs now. She has her masters degree and puts in alot of time during the school year.

I have an associates degree in heating and cooling and have worked as a service technician for over 20 years. I make on the average year $20,000 more than she does and I bust my butt to do it.

I would not trade her jobs for anything. I would love to have the summer off but the crap she puts up with to get there............NO WAY!!!!!

June and Jane were home-schooled, and therefore sleeping together?

A blanket statement like "most" isn't going to cut it. Which publishing companies are owned my the Bro's, and how does it affect the pay of teachers?

    That was not a joke.
You are cordially invited to join my 14 year old, homeschooled, son and I for lunch.

Or meet my 21 year old step-son and I for lunch when he returns from Colorado or Afghanistan, wherever he is when he is eligible for his next leave.

Neither child is incestuous or socially awkward.

Can someone please tell me if I'm getting this right:

    1. Painting home-schooled kids with a broad brush = OK.

    2. Painting LEOs with a broad brush = Big no-no.

I don't paint anyone with such a brush, I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly.

    Since we're at it:

    1. Having a problem with cops administering beatings and criticizing dicey shootings: you're anti-cop.

    2. Arguing that teachers arent' overpaid: you're anti-teacher.

    Also:

You can say anything you like about lawyers.

Those are valid issues as well, but my post was directed at a police officer that doesn't like to be painted, yet he doesn't mind saying all but maybe a few home-schooled kids are socially-retarded sibling ****ers.

Sorry, I forgot about that guy almost as soon as he posted. He's one of those folks who knows what the underside of a bridge looks like.

I'm pretty sure there was at least one cop bashing postal and/or DMV workers in that thread.

They've ranged from simply socially awkward to bizarre to the point that I wouldn't associate with them. I would suspect there are a few fairly socialized home schooled people out there, I have just yet to come across one.

Ahhhh .... the "socialization" card.

I'll let you in on a little secret ... homeschooled children are incredibly capable of interacting with all age ranges ... not just their age peers. My experience has been quite the opposite of yours. ALL the homeschooled children I have met were quite capable of carrying on intelligent conversations with adults. Perhaps intelligent, respectful children seem "bizarre" in today's society but let me assure you, I find it refreshing.

I think we should all file that post away for future reference the next time he complains about "cop bashers" painting with a broad brush.
