Here's the short version of what I have seen with all the free money:

-Two 19ish tenants living in a house. Both laid off and both collected the extra $600/week. Utility company contacted me to see if they were still there as they owed over $1500.

-One tenant who moved her ex in so she could get his disability checks not making rents. Blamed the pandemic. Still gets the extra income, nothing changed for her.

-Married couple both on partial disability. No pay disruptions. She talks to me one day saying she wished there would be another stimulus check because she wanted to buy something special for her grand child.

-One tenant kept taking days off work because she could say her son was exposed to the virus at school. She was not sending him to school. Company didn't fire her but didn't pay her either. Complains to me that she has no money.

But to even it out I have one long term tenant who contacted me asking if I had any other tenants that were hurt by all this. He was donating his stimulus checks and wanted to keep it local. I couldn't accept anything for any of my tenants as none were actually hurt financially by all this.
The bleeding hearts on here jumped on me when I said things like this are one of the reasons the poor stay poor lol. There's no discipline to manage their money. It's like the scene in Longmire when the Reservation got their first casino checks rolling in and OD's jumped up. I bet those 19 year olds have a new big screen and a PS5. They'll just end up borrowing the money from parents or other relatives that they'll never pay back.

i had some "friends" that recieved an insurance payout. they were barely survivng with 1 child that didn't live with them.

they bought an xbox 360 and 6-7 games. 2 weeks later they asked me to borrow $1000 because their lights were cut off. i offered them $100 for the xbox & games. i lost a friendship that day

It's about the same around me but with tax checks. Have some people that pay rent weekly. Can't save enough ahead to pay monthly. I used to try and talk to people and say they should save the tax check money for hard times, or pay a month's rent and save a little back weekly.

Instead I see the Rent-A-Center trucks roll in. Then a few months later the trucks return to collect the items the tenants can't afford.

I have made it thru to a few over the years, but I just don't try as hard now because so few want to pay attention.

Living really rural, one of the things I've watched is how some people never hold a job, but get by through the years by doing things like collecting/selling scrap, sponging from relatives, hunting/gathering in the HNF or elsewhere, and selling drugs, legally obtained or not. I'm sure are some benefits from the government involved as well, and no taxes on the odd/end money they make.

Not sure other than selling drugs what people do in the cities.

Bingo. These little snow flakes have never really seen bad times. Not like I/we did in my late teens early 20's. There was no magic free ****. None. NADA. Jobs were scarce at best especially for a young man with limited skills to sell himself with. No lifes living wage movements. No safety nets. Nothing. Unemployment was hard to get and always seemed cheap and ugly.
When Bryant Mfg. laid a bunch of us off myself and a friend borrowed his dads flat bed and went around scrapping metal/etc and odd jobs for what ever pay we could scrounge. Finally found a minimum wage labor job building packing houses. Slaughter houses as we called them. Thats how I morphed into the HVAC/R trades. I did it the hard way.

But if I had been ass warming at home waiting to be saved by big brother that would have never happened.
There is so little ambition in way to many of these little turds.

And the bleeding hearts are killing the rest of us.

There are a million little side hustles, though since the rise of the 1099 "economy" lots of people are doing that.

WIBC reporting that the next gov't "paycheck" after the unemployment runs out in June will be the child tax credit payments, supposedly in the mail in July?
Social security, Medicare and the whole government tax and spend system is a giant pyramid scheme. Birth rates have fallen to less
than replacement due to a number of factor so .gov wants to incentivize having children. Makes sense to me. Like it or not you need those people with a bunch of kids because eventually those kids grow up and pay taxes, social security and Medicare.

The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money. ;)

To get people to work you have to pay them more than not working pays. That means paying a dishwasher, stock boy, warehouse runner $30,000+/yr.

Wage inflation is baked into the cards, which i what I think the leftists goal is. Forget $15/hr min wage. That will be unnecessary because you won't be able to hire anyone for less than $20/hr.

add in higher taxes on businesses (and people) and that then means much higher prices for everything.

And of course inflation hurts the middle class more than anyone else. the poor are poor either way. The rich get richer and the middle class gets destroyed. I think that's the point. Bolsheviks hate the middle class. They are the enemy of Communism.
When you have 3 classes.... there is only one class that can truly be eliminated.

unfortunately the ones having the kids usually aren't productive citizens so they don't pass that on to their children.

    The missing factor- immigration.

Can't grow the population? Bring them in.

Unfortunately they do this by making it more lucrative to have children out of wedlock. Programs designed to reward single parent households have been eroding the nuclear family for generations now.

We know statistically that kids that grow up in a two parent household do better educationally and economically later in life. It's a shame the ruling class doesn't actually want people to rise out of poverty. They want as many people as possible living off the .gov dole.

    Bingo.

SS would be solvent if they kept their fingers out of that pie but people are not to be trusted when that level of money is available to be stolen.
yup. i personally know people that recieve ssi because they have a "social disease"...drug addictions. also people who recieve it for the children whose parent never/barely worked but was killed/incarcerated committing crimes.

i know someone who complains about the amount of ssi. he hadn't worked for more than a few months at a time in the 30 years before he was approved. i told him i have to work an extra 10 hrs a week so he can get his money and still pay all my bills.

he says he's bored. i told him to get a part job. he got mad at me.

I think you have to get into whether the husband will be a good provider, somehow.

If it is just a body count for benefits, it will continue to be any swinging **** will do and the 'father' in those children's lives will have little of value to teach them. Having 'baby-daddy' just live in the same household isn't going to do much good

I think the basic benefit has to be subsistence level, the benefit level is frozen at the number of children you had when you were accepted into the program, and there needs to be some sort of dollar for dollar benefit increase in proportion to money the family earns and pays taxes on as well as a limit to how long a person can stay in a given program. Up or out
