This news is horrific and heart breaking. And the idea that children shouldn’t be protected is disgusting.

Yesterday I was watching a kids movie with my 11 year old. The two main character “good guys” were arguing (an old school guy and a young progressive guy). Their conversation went something like this:

Old school good guy: “when you get hit you have hit back and hit so hard that the bad guy never gets back up”

Young progressive good guy: “when you fight fire with fire the whole world gets burned. There’s no good people or bad people, just people”.

In my continuous battle against the programming of my children I stopped the movie right there and had a conversation with my son that unimaginable evil exists in the world and we have to be prepared to do whatever it takes to stop it.

I may need to borrow your notes friend. I've got 3 boys, 8-5-3, and I'll be damned before I let them echo those hippie sentiments.

The problem is... it's wrong.

If someone crosses the line, and starts killing people, if they are not stopped, then more people will die.
If they are stopped, the the killing stops.
The good only use force when necessary. Therefore, if no one is going around killing, then the good is not killing.
They are only doing it, to stop the bad from killing.
