Secret Service Agent shoots self while re-holstering at gun range in California.

    1. Quit speed re-holstering. It's cool and ninjy, but it will set you on fire.

    2. Beware that guns can discharge without fingers on triggers, especially if something gets weged between the holster and the trigger.

    3. Four Rules light is always on, even during re-holstering.

This is as good as the [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP6UvNgbqIA"]DEA agent that shot himself[/ame] in the foot while demonstrating gun safety. In a school classroom.

Maybe the SS agent was showing their willingness to take a bullet?

    Quit speed re-holstering. Agree!
It's cool and ninjy. Disagree! Not cool. It's stupid. (Kirk, I know you don't see it as cool/ninjy.) I wince every time I see someone jam a gun into the holster as fast as he can. That person has identified himself as both stupid and dangerous.

There is no "extra credit" for holstering a gun quickly; rather, it invites disaster.

Holster (and re-holster) guns "reluctantly" and carefully with the finger very definitely off the trigger. Stop if you feel resistance, and clear whatever is causing the resistance.

Nothing funny as I see alot of people looking at guns and the first thing that they do is put their finger on the trigger. I see this problem with 3 out 5 customers. The bad part is that 2 out of the 3 are already carrying.

I have to always kindly tell them that the best safety on any gun is to index thier finger on the frame of the gun and not the trigger.

The proper abbreviation for the secret service us USSS not SS.
SS is typically left for the Nazi SS group. Kirk did the same mistake in his original post as well. :faint:

No one ever won a gunfight by reholstering faster than the other guy.
You don't get any points for that.
